Mayor de Blasio Must Take Emergency Actions to Protect New York City Residents with Disabilities

Jonathan Carey “Champion for the Disabled” Born September 12,1993 Killed by caregivers on February 15,2007

Gov. Cuomo just blocked a critical 9-1-1 Civil Rights Bill which would have finally provided people with disabilities equal access to 9-1-1 services

The number one known reason for these deaths of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in these facilities throughout New York State and New York City is staff not calling 9-1-1. ”

— Michael Carey

ALBANY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — It is important to bring to light extremely serious and outright evil matters that the general public must understand that continues in New York State. Upwards of 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities living outside of their family home in residential care facilities and group homes are being treated unequally, they are being discriminated against, and they are in grave danger. The 9-1-1 emergency call systems are almost always purposefully bypassed for this specific group of people which denies them equal access to 9-1-1 emergency medical and police first responder assistance and services. This discriminatory practice also denies the disabled their NYS and US Constitutional rights to equal protection of laws when they are victims of crimes. This horrific and deadly discrimination that continues in New York State and throughout New York City would have Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rolling over in his grave. How can we as a civil society allow such evil to continue? All attempts to address this with Governor Cuomo have been completely ignored as if people with disabilities are not human beings, but they are precious human beings. New York State’s extremely dangerous and deadly discriminatory practices are costing many innocent children and adults their lives. Thirteen year old Jonathan Carey is one of thousands that die every year in New York State’s extremely dangerous and deadly mental health care system http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/06/nyregion/boys-death-highlights-crisis-in-homes-for-disabled.html

The number one known reason for these deaths of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in these facilities throughout New York State and New York City is staff not calling 9-1-1. Calling 9-1-1 is highly discouraged by management because of what would be found in so many cases, such as extreme bruising, severely drugged and over dosed residents, broken bones, evidence of rapes and unresponsive residents dying extremely young are just some of the horrific examples https://www.buzzfeed.com/benhattem/scathing-report-says-ny-agency-is-failing-people-with-disabi?utm_term=.li9Y4jjeA#.foWJ7ooR0
New York State has taken a posture for decades that what is most important regarding “these types of people” is getting them out of the family homes; create large numbers of extremely low paying caregiver jobs and to enrich politically connected people and entities, which is financial exploitation of the disabled. New York State’s system was never about providing the best of the best care and services for the disabled with the billions of federal Medicaid dollars coming in annually, but the exact opposite. Almost every imaginable safety and abuse prevention measure that family members of a person with a disability would think are in place in NYS facilities are non-existent which leads to rampant physical and sexual abuse, neglect and deaths. Here are the numbers; approximately 7,800 calls to Governor Cuomo’s abuse hotline for the disabled every month and 11-13 deaths every day. Literally, almost everything is being covered-up by circumventing the 9-1-1 call systems. Mayor de Blasio can and must take emergency actions now to protect NYC residents with disabilities; many more innocent people will die if he does nothing. Mayor de Blasio has the direct responsibility to ensure NYC residents obtain equal access to 9-1-1 medical and police services.

San José City College Launches No-cost College Program

SJCC President Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland addresses Promise Scholarship students.

Students attend official launch ceremony of San Jose City College Promise program.

Initiative is a Key Part of Citywide San José Promise Program to Make College Affordable, Accessible

We can all agree the best way to lift people out of poverty is to address educational inequality and provide access to higher education. Our Promise program here at City College does exactly that.”

— SJCC President Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — San José City College (SJCC) has launched its Promise program, taking a big step toward making no-cost college a reality for all students, including low-income, first-generation, and students historically underrepresented in higher education. As part of the initiative, this week, the first group of 120 recent high school graduates began the transition to college with the help of the Caminos Summer Bridge program.

By the time Fall Semester begins, 250 students will enter SJCC with College Promise Scholarships that will pay full tuition, fees, textbooks, transportation, and summer transition programs for up to two years. The scholarships were offered to students who graduated from San José high schools this month.

“We can all agree the best way to lift people out of poverty is to address educational inequality and provide access to higher education. Our Promise program here at City College does exactly that,” said SJCC President Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland. “The goal is to remove cost as a barrier to higher education, clearing the path for community college students to complete their education without student loans or having to work excessively to pay for their studies.”

SJCC’s Caminos Summer Bridge and First Year Experience (FYE) programs support incoming students making the transition from high school to college. Caminos provides an opportunity for students to begin the first year of college by completing foundational coursework during Summer Bridge while learning to navigate college life. Students continue their Caminos experience through FYE with a team of counselors, instructors, and peers that guides students beyond the first year of college and through graduation.

The SJCC Promise is a key element of Mayor Sam Liccardo’s collaborative city-wide San José Promise launched in March. The aim of the initiative is to ensure that college is affordable and accessible to all San José high school students. The San José Promise is built upon three core elements: College Readiness Programs, College Promise Scholarships, and College Pathways Partnerships.

College Promise scholarship programs are available at SJCC and Evergreen Valley College as a result of a $1.5 million grant from the California College Promise Innovation Grant Program awarded to the San José-Evergreen Community College District.

About San José City College
Established in 1921, San José City College is the oldest community college in Silicon Valley and offers 68 degrees and certificates. The college features a state-of-the-art Technology Center, the Cesar E. Chavez Library and Learning Center, Student Center, Science Complex, Applied Science Center, Cosmetology Building, the Carmen Castellano Fine Arts Building, Multidisciplinary Building, and the soon-to-be-completed Physical Education Building.

Mayor de Blasio Fails to Help Ensure 9-1-1 Emergency Services for the Disabled

Jonathan Carey “Champion for the Disabled” Born September 12,1993 Killed by caregivers on February 15,2007

There is no more time for political games; Mayor de Blasio said he would help get 9-1-1 for the disabled, if he remains silent many more will die

Mayor de Blasio you can step up to the plate now and be a voice for the voiceless, it is not too late; countless innocent and precious lives are at stake. ”

— Michael Carey

DELMAR, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — It is NOT over yet. We have time still today to save many lives from dying prematurely simply because they did not get 9-1-1 emergency assistance and services, like 13 year old Jonathan Carey who had autism who was denied immediate 9-1-1 medical and police services https://www.nytimes.com/video/nyregion/100000000849083/a-failure-to-protect.html and
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/06/nyregion/boys-death-highlights-crisis-in-homes-for-disabled.html

This is from today's New York Times story where Mayoral Control is the top story, but what about people with disabilities that are being treated unequally and not being provided 9-1-1 assistance and services in New York City and throughout New York State? “Another parent familiar with grief, Michael Carey, was urging lawmakers to require those who work with the physically and mentally disabled to call 911 for patients who are in medical distress or are the victim of a physical or sexual assault, among other things. His son, Jonathan Carey, who had autism, was asphyxiated while being restrained by a state employee in a van outside Albany in 2007. “I’ve been fighting for this for 10 years,” Mr. Carey said.” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/28/nyregion/potential-deal-in-albany-on-mayoral-control-of-schools.html?rref=collection%2Fbyline%2Flisa-w.-foderaro&action=click&contentCollection=undefined&region=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=1&pgtype=collection

Potential Deal in Albany on Mayoral Control of Schools
www.nytimes.com
No votes have been taken during the special session convened by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday, and thus any agreement was tentative.

As Jonathan’s father, I have begged for help from Mayor Bill de Blasio to get 9-1-1 services for the disabled in person twice and many times with his staff. I have traveled to New York City from the Albany area to meet with his top staff including one of the New York City Police Department Deputy Commissioners on the fact that people with disabilities living outside of their family home in care facilities and group homes are be treated unequally, they are being discriminated against and that they are in most cases not receiving 9-1-1 assistance and services. The number one known reasons for deaths of the developmentally and intellectually disabled is staff NOT calling 9-1-1.

There is a Critical 9-1-1 Civil Rights Reform Bill that has massive bi-partisan support in both the NYS Senate and Assembly, but where is Mayor Bill de Blasio? Why is the Mayor who told me that he would help me get 9-1-1 for the disabled nowhere to be found and silent and even complicit as precious New York City residents with disabilities are dying because no one bothers to call 9-1-1 when they are choking or in medical distress? The Mayor wants control over NYC schools, but has the direct responsibility to ensure 9-1-1 medical and police assistance and services are for everyone, which includes our most vulnerable children and adults with disabilities. I have also been told that the Mayor’s wife is a champion for mental health issues, so what the hell is going on?

Mayor de Blasio can insist of the Speaker Heastie and Senator Flanagan for the sake of those within the New York City limits, minimally, that 9-1-1 services which is a basic Civil Right must be provided NYC residents with disabilities. He stand up and speak out and insist that the 9-1-1 Civil Rights Reform Bill must be voted on today. Many will die within New York City alone if this vital bill is not voted on and passed. Speaker Heastie is from NYC and some of the highest death counts of the disabled are in the Bronx and Queens. Both Speaker Heastie and Senate Majority leader Flanagan can easily open a regular session and ensure the vote and passage of this CRITICAL legislation if only Mayor Bill de Blasio steps up to the plate and speaks out for the disabled and their equal rights. Leaders lead, they do not sit on their ass and remain silent as innocent children and adults are dying. Speaker Heastie promised that when 76 Assembly members were signed on as co-sponsors he would bring the 9-1-1 Civil Rights Reform Bill to the floor for a vote, there are 76 Democrats signed on and 112 Assembly members in total. The question is will Mayor Bill de Blasio and Speaker Heastie, both of New York City honor their word to me, Jonathan’s dad, for the 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities and their families that I represent, advocate for and serve?

The number one known and documented reason, as well as number two and three known reasons for these deaths, all surround NOT CALLING 9-1-1 according to DRNY the current federal watchdog agency . The 9-1-1 Civil Rights Bill this rectifies this systemic and deadly failure.

When it comes to crimes being committed against a disabled person, physical and sexual assault crimes, they cannot be kept from 9-1-1 and local authorities any longer. Calling a CORRUPT Justice Center, which is a State agency, with a direct conflict of interest, which is NOT a first responder and NOT notifying local police, DA's or even Medical Examiners and Coroners of most crimes and deaths is not working. This fraudulent State entity under Governor Cuomo’s control is regularly Obstructing Justice and denying the disabled in most cases their NYS and US Constitutional Rights to "equal protection of laws."

The Justice Center "special prosecutor" has been deemed to be operating unconstitutionally by both Attorney General Schneiderman and State Supreme Court Justice Breslin. This individual is still handling rape and death cases as if it still fine – this person is NOT an elected District Attorney, but a State employee that has kept MOST reported crimes and deaths from local authorities. The Justice Center is covering up horrendous and staggering numbers of crimes, including criminally negligent homicides.

It is deadly DISCRIMINATION to continue to deny 1,000,000 New Yorkers that live outside of their family home 9-1-1 emergency medical and police assistance and services. Mayor de Blasio, Speaker Heastie and Senator Flanagan, this is not about protecting Governor Cuomo or his corrupt wrongfully named Justice Center any longer. Let's end this horrific CIVIL RIGHTS TRAGEDY and TRAVESTY and fix what should have been fixed following Willowbrook and certainly following the award winning New York Times award winning investigative reporting series that was a runner up for a Pulitzer Prize that revealed these horrors. The NY Times series is called “Abused & Used” for a distinct reason, our most vulnerable are being abused and used http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/nyregion/abused-and-used-series-page.html. Mayor de Blasio you can step up to the plate now and be a voice for the voiceless, it is not too late, countless innocent and precious lives are at stake. The swift passage of the 9-1-1 Civil Rights Reform Bill is within sight and countless innocent lives can be saved if you only take immediate actions as the Mayor of New York City who has leadership over 8.5 million souls of which approximately 510,000 are people with disabilities whom are being discriminated against because they are being denied 9-1-1 medical and police services in New York City.

New Book Tells the Truth about Lyme Disease and What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know

Overcoming Lyme Disease Book

Overcoming Lyme Disease Book

Overcoming Lyme Disease: The Truth About Lyme Disease And The Hidden Dangers Plaguing Our Bodies ruffles feathers in the medical community.

CHELSEA, MICHIGAN, USA, June 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — After suffering for years, and being left to die twice, Jennifer Heath found a solution.

But first, she had to find a diagnosis.

“Overcoming Lyme Disease: The Truth About Lyme Disease And The Hidden Dangers Plaguing Our Bodies” is her new book dedicated to her circuitous journey of medical scare after medical scare.

“I was undiagnosed for a long time. I had numerous surgeries. After almost dying a few times, I finally found my holistic doctor,” Heath said. “I started documenting what I was going through because I couldn’t believe it.”

The doctors thought she had various forms of cancer. They thought she had osteoarthritis. They thought she had chronic pain. They thought she had a variety of conditions that weren’t the cause of her symptoms. “I had so many health scares that it all seemed surreal,” Heath said.

But once she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, which she thinks she contracted via a bug bite several years ago, all of her strange symptoms made sense.

“I started a blog to help other people. That helped me start getting my life back. Lyme Disease is the number one pandemic, and it’s going untreated. People are suffering. They need to learn the truth about it. People need to learn how to talk to their doctor about this,” she said.

Heath’s new book, “Overcoming Lyme Disease” not only shares her story, but it is chock full of information that will help anyone struggling with undiagnosed issues talk to their doctor.

This new book is a must-read if you, or a loved one, are struggling with undiagnosed, or misdiagnosed symptoms. Overcoming Lyme Disease is available in digital and paperback versions at http://www.OvercomingLymeDisease.com/book

ONE LLP FOUNDING PARTNER RELEASES NEW BOOK

Burning Bridges: America’s 20-Year Crusade to Deport Labor Leader Harry Bridges, Releases This Week

Then it was the communist ideological deportation trials. Today it is a new ism, terrorism & Islamism, raising the same questions litigated for 20 years as Bridges fought to save his life in America.”

— Peter Afrasiabi

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, ORANGE COUNTY, June 28, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — One LLP is excited to announce the release of founding partner Peter Afrasiabi’s new book, Burning Bridges: America’s 20-Year Crusade to Deport Labor Leader Harry Bridges.

Set during the Cold War and the Red Scare, the book charts the legal and political intrigue of the four serial trials against San Francisco labor leader Harry Bridges. It assesses the prosecutors and FBI investigators, the judges and courts, and the larger-than-life defense lawyers who risked prison and disbarment in their efforts to save Harry Bridges.

Based on declassified FBI documents, including documents from J. Edgar Hoover’s vault and previously-secret National Archives documents, this is the first full account of the longest and most bitter deportation battles in U.S. history, and the twenty-year legal campaign waged by government lawyers and policumakers, in secret conjuction with private enterprise, to deport radical labor leader Harry Bridges. This is the story of the rise and fall of due process, where those who are supposed to be the very agents of due process – government prosecutors, federal investigators, legislators, and judges – bent and warped the Constitution in a means-justify-ends crusade to silence Bridges’ labor voice.

The book discusses the timely issue of deportation, and explores why such institutionalized persecution of people who offer different viewpoints can happen today in an immigration system even more politicized and beholden to Executive control than in the last century, questions that go to the heart of the American legal system and the heart of the guarantee of due process.

"Then it was the Cold War and communist ideological deportation trials as the government targeted labor leader Harry Bridges.  History repeats itself and today it is a new ism, terrorism and Islamism, raising the same questions litigated in the legal and public policy arena for 20 years as Harry Bridges fought to save his life in America,” said author Peter Afrasiabi.

NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo in Collusion Scheme to Cover-up Rapes and Deaths of People with Special Needs

Jonathan Carey “Champion for the Disabled” Born September 12,1993 Killed by caregivers on February 15,2007

Thousands of people with special needs are bring sexually assaulted, raped and dying annually in extremely dangerous and deadly NYS facilities and group homes

The big picture that the governor is really concerned about surrounding this collision scheme is the ability to continue to defraud the federal government of billions of federal tax dollars annually.”

— Michael Carey

DELMAR, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 28, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Governor Andrew Cuomo has taken decisive actions to ensure that most sexual assault and rape crimes, including criminally negligent deaths, of people with disabilities and those struggling with mental health issues never get to local police, County elected District Attorney’s or Medical Examiners and Coroners. You may ask yourself why would he do such a horrific thing and believe me, many do ask this? One of the answers is that there is a distinct choice that Governor Cuomo has made to deal with these horrors and the horrific care and services being provided in New York State which is to try to cover-up almost everything because of the shame, scandal and massive fraud involved. Governor Andrew Cuomo chose to continue the cover-ups, instead of doing what was right and just, following the award winning New York Times “Abused & Used” investigative reporting series on this matter which was a runner up for a Pulitzer Prize http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/nyregion/abused-and-used-series-page.html. Governor Cuomo chose to allow most of the abusers, the pedophiles, the rapists and those that harm and even kill some of our most innocent and vulnerable to be protected and shielded and in most cases left in their jobs to possibly further harm the same person with a disability or possibly many other victims, instead protecting people with disabilities. The big picture that the governor is really concerned about surrounding this collision scheme is the ability to continue to defraud the federal government of billions of federal tax dollars annually. You must understand that State and federal Medicaid money according to federal law says that the money can only go to programs that provide safe care that is free from abuse and neglect. If you hide thousands of cases of abuse and neglect monthly that are occurring in New York State you continue to get the federal money no questions asked. Governor Cuomo is heading up the worst type of collusion scheme imaginable, because this theft and fraud of federal Medicaid dollars surrounds the cover-ups of massive numbers of sexual assaults, rapes and criminally negligent death crimes.
As Governor Cuomo’s supposed Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice Center) is continued to be exposed publicly for what it really is, which is a cover-up whitewash entity, the Governor continues to do everything imaginable to protect himself. Governor Cuomo went as far as taking every measure possible and calling in every favor possible to try to stop an historic 911 Civil Rights Reform Bill initiated by Michael Carey from getting to the floor of either the NYS Senate or Assembly. The historic 911 Civil Rights Reform Bill would simply require those that work with the disabled to call 911 if there is a medical emergency, including a death, significant injuries of a person with a disability or if there was a physical or sexual assault which are crimes. The 911 Civil Rights Bill really is that simple. Who would oppose this, except for people that have horrible things to hide? This amazing legislation would end decades of horrific and deadly discrimination and save many hundreds of lives annually. New Yorkers with disabilities living outside of their family home in State run or State certified private facilities and group homes have been denied equal access to 911 Emergency medical and police assistance and services and bypassing or simply not calling 911 is the number one known cause for what is being called “untimely” deaths of the disabled in New York State. These are negligent deaths that in most cases could have been easily prevented if only 911 were required to be called by staff?
To shine a light on the sheer numbers and the scope of the rampant abuse and neglect, as well as deaths occurring of people with disabilities in New York State, please sit down. Every day, there are, on average 11-13 deaths reported to Governor Cuomo’s Justice Center, but really Unjust Center, death hotline. There are between 19,000 and 20,000 deaths of people with disabilities in the last four years alone. Obviously, these are not all negligent deaths, I am not claiming that they are, but a sizeable percentage without question, are criminally negligent deaths or homicides. Countless people that were physically healthy that had no terminal illness diagnoses, just dying in these known unsafe facilities, many extremely young? What was the cause of all these deaths, we don’t know, most were never reported by Governor Cuomo’s Justice Center to County Medical Examiners or Coroners. My precious son Jonathan had autism and was only 13 when he was killed by his New York State caregivers and he was denied 911 immediate medical and police services. Jonathan was developmentally disabled and had autism and he was only 13 when he was killed by his caregivers in 2007 http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/06/nyregion/boys-death-highlights-crisis-in-homes-for-disabled.htmlhttp://www.nytimes.com/video/nyregion/100000000849083/a-failure-to-protect.html . Jonathan is one of many hundreds of innocent people with disabilities dying long before they should every year because of a corrupt system that uses the disabled for financial gain and profit. The sexual assaults and rapes are off the charts. Years worth of New York State records obtained through Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests reveal that for the developmentally disabled in NYS through OPWDD system alone an average of 325 reported sexual assaults every three months. The tragic reality is that only approximately 3% of these sexual assault cases against the developmentally disabled will ever be reported according to a highly recognized report found on the State of Massachusetts official website http://www.mass.gov/dppc/abuse-recognize/prevalence-of-violence.html. Simply do the math, statistically upwards of one third of New York State residents with disabilities living in OPWDD facilities or sub-contracted private facilities and group homes under OPWDD are being sexually assaulted annually. This evil must be stopped. Most sexual predators that prey on the vulnerable and weak in New York State are being protected and shielded from prosecution by Governor Cuomo’s Justice Center and these people are also out on the streets able to possibly assault or rape your children because they are not in jail where they belong.
The Justice Center has been and continues to be exposed in a big way for the fraud it is by both the AP News and by BuzzFeed News. I have attached some of these investigative news pieces;

For many decades now New York State has treated the disabled and those struggling with mental illness as a sub class of human being, or in other terms the bottom of the barrel and has used them for financial gain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbiYJkiX-Dg. New York State, under the guise of a “Justice Center” that Governor Cuomo has touted as his historic reform is hiding and concealing thousands of the heinous crimes imaginable. The severe damages, physical and emotional injuries and loss of innocent lives are countless and most are the direct result of the collusion and widely known fraud and corruption.

SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO, CANADA, June 27, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northern Ontario filmmakers creating documentary on life-changing youth LGBTQ2+ camp

Already two years in the making, the Sault Ste. Marie produced documentary about Northern Ontario’s Rainbow Camp is now entering the post-production phase

Sault Ste. Marie, ON (June 27, 2017) — The story of Rainbow Camp is a universal one. Everybody is looking for a place that they belong.

The documentary Rainbow Camp, currently in post-production, will highlight a special place in Northern Ontario that provides a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer questioning, 2 spirited and plus (LGBTQ2+) youth to gather for one week a year, allowing them to be their true selves.

The filmmakers captured the raw experiences of the campers and counsellors through a series of interviews. The documentary will share the campers’ stories, feelings and experiences in the words of the campers themselves.

“Rainbow Camp has been my ongoing passion project for more than two years. I have participated in the Thessalon-based camp for two summers, interviewed 20 camp staff members and 33 campers. Hundreds of hours of footage were shot over 14 days in 2017 alone,” said Dan Nystedt, Director for Form Productions/Village Electric. “The production team has begun editing the amazing and inspiring stories of these brave, young people who are experiencing freedom of acceptance and love, many for the first time.”

Nystedt’s hope is that the documentary will change the lives of viewers in the same way that the camp is changing the lives of those who attend. The intended audience for Rainbow Camp is not the campers themselves, but rather LGBTQ2+ youth, their allies, siblings, friends and families across Canada and the United States. The story of Rainbow Camp cuts across demographics and borders by sharing a story of love and acceptance.

In order to help finish the editing and post-production of Rainbow Camp and to help the film be distributed to the largest audience as possible, Nystedt is looking for partners and benefactors through an Indiegogo campaign. For those who aren’t in the position to contribute to the film, the production team simply hopes that people will share the documentary trailer and information about the project to help spread the word about this amazing youth camp.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Collusion to Protect His Corrupt Justice Center Continues

Jonathan Carey “Champion for the Disabled” Born September 12,1993 Killed by caregivers on February 15,2007

Gov. Cuomo’s fraudulent whitewash Justice Center was primarily set up to cover-up most reported crimes and deaths of people with disabilities

This fraudulent state agency that is directly under the control and authority of Governor Andrew Cuomo is taking in on average 7,800 calls to its abuse hotline for the disabled every month. ”

— Michael Carey

DELMAR, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 27, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Backroom deals, secret meetings and how do we continue to protect ourselves and our schemes from coming to light and continue to control everything? What a horrible way to live and this certainly is not leadership, this is without question, collusion and corruption of the worst type. When people literally plan out how they can cover-up thousands of rapes and deaths of innocent children and adults with disabilities that are occurring in mental health facilities and group homes under your authority it is time for federal intervention and federal investigations. These practices violate numerous federal laws and are outright evil.
The Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice Center) is not a Justice Center, but literally almost the exact opposite. This fraudulent state agency that is directly under the control and authority of Governor Andrew Cuomo is taking in on average 7,800 calls to its abuse hotline for the disabled every month. Everyone knows that these horrifying numbers reveal massive systemic failures that jeopardize the safety, health and lives of our most vulnerable and that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Most rapes, physical and sexual assault crimes and deaths of this population of people that cannot speak or defend themselves because of their disabilities will never be reported and are purposefully internally covered-up. There is massive systemic problem of rampant abuse and neglect, as well as staggering numbers of deaths, occurring in New York State’s extremely dangerous and deadly mental health care system which is compromised of both state and private sun-contracted entities. Eleven to thirteen deaths are reported on average every single day, to Governor Cuomo’s wrongfully named Justice Center. Most deaths of these deaths are never reported to County District Attorney’s or County Medical Examiners or Coroners. What is going on is hard to wrap your mind around, how can such things happen? I will tell you, when you set up a system that is completely discriminatory and separate from the normal 911 call system and criminal justice system for the disabled, you can pretty much cover-up practically everything, that is until you are caught and exposed.
The Justice Center has been and continues to be exposed in a big way for the fraud it is by both the AP News and by BuzzFeed News. I have attached some of these investigative news pieces;

For many decades New York State has treated the disabled and those struggling with mental illness as a sub class of human being, or in other terms the bottom of the barrel and has used them for financial gain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbiYJkiX-Dg. New York State, under the guise of a “Justice Center” is hiding and concealing most of the crimes, the severe damages and loss of innocent life as a direct result of the known fraud and corruption.
Jonathan Carey, my son, was developmentally disabled and had autism and he was only 13 when he was killed by his caregivers in 2007 http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/06/nyregion/boys-death-highlights-crisis-in-homes-for-disabled.htmlhttp://www.nytimes.com/video/nyregion/100000000849083/a-failure-to-protect.html . Jonathan is one of many hundreds of innocent people with disabilities dying long before they should every year because of a corrupt system that uses the disabled for financial gain and profit.
Has the State of New York taken any actions to rectify these problems? The answer is no. Not only has Governor Cuomo not taken any significant actions to stop or prevent these horrors, he just temporally ensured that the most important and genuine historic reform legislation to much better protect 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities and finally ensure their equal rights and equal access to 911 first responder medical and police services was blocked from becoming law.
Who would oppose this, but people that have things to hide? Bypassing 91 is extremely dangerous and is obviously deadly, but it appears many people in position of authority, simply do not care.
Again, who would oppose such an amazing lifesaving and discrimination ending 911 Civil Rights reform bill” The answer, Governor Cuomo and everyone involved in providing grossly negligent care and services for our most vulnerable. Many of the very people that swore oaths to uphold and honor the Constitution and to uphold justice are the very ones opposed to the Constitution and to justice for people with disabilities. It is time for the people and their true representatives to rise up and let their voices to be heard, more than ever before in history. It has been said that evil prevails only when good people do nothing. Speak up and speak out against these horrific injustices and tell Governor Cuomo that he cannot continue to treat people with disabilities unequally and as lower class citizens. Tell Governor Cuomo to honor his own oaths and responsibilities and to fight for equal rights for everyone, not just his hand selected groups of people that contribute to him. People with disabilities and their family members make up approximately 30% of our population. We the people can and must be the ones that force such basic reforms to finally get immediate 911 medical and police assistance and services for people with disabilities.

Wise Guys Help Break the Cycle of Teenage Pregnancy

With nearly 10,000 teen pregnancies in NC in 2015, Children's Home Society is ramping up its male-responsibility evidence-based program to curb teen pregnancy

GREENSBORO, NC, USA, June 27, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — In 2015, there were nearly 10,000 teenage pregnancies in North Carolina. “Teen parents are less likely to finish high school, less likely to be well employed, and less likely to be in committed and stable relationships,” said Rick Brown, Youth Education Program Director at Children’s Home Society of North Carolina. “These outcomes are passed on to their children, who may, in turn, grow up and repeat those cycles.”

Ramping up its male-responsibility campaign to curb teenage pregnancy, Children’s Home Society is expanding the Wise Guys program, targeting teen males, a segment often overlooked and underserved when it comes to addressing teen pregnancy.

“The Wise Guys program empowers young men to make smart decisions regarding relationships,” said Brown. “By teaching pregnancy prevention and positive choices, we equip these young men to break detrimental cycles and become supportive, loving boyfriends, husbands, and fathers in the future.”

“Wise Guys began in Guilford County, North Carolina. We received a grant to expand, so we’re now in eleven counties in the state, plus cities and towns in Arizona, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, and New York,” said Brown. “The Wise Guys program has been implemented in over 320 communities nationwide.”

Charlotte’s Myers Park High School, the largest in North Carolina with over 2,800 students, incorporates the Wise Guys curriculum during health class. “The class is very upbeat and interactive,” said 18-year-old graduating senior Will Miller. “While abstinence is taught as the best way, the program teaches everything you need to know. If you choose different options, they want you to be safe. We also engaged in conversations about a wide range of topics, like avoiding the male stereotype, the rape culture, consent, partying, promiscuity, morals, and values.”

“One of the biggest things I got out of Wise Guys is that we see ourselves, young men, in a certain way that isn’t viable to everybody,” said Miller. “What we think a man should be, perhaps shaped by the movie culture or advertising, is not necessarily the best thing.”

“My instructor was very beneficial,” Miller said. “He brought the perfect amount of information and humor for a productive environment. I learned a lot about other people and myself. Wise Guys is one of the courses I will value most coming out of high school.”

Miller’s teacher, Jeff Rothberg, Educator for Children’s Home Society, teaches the Wise Guys program at Myers Park High School, East Mecklenburg High School, community centers in the Charlotte area, and works with youth offenders in Mecklenburg County Jail North.

“I would love to see Wise Guys spread across North Carolina and the nation,” said Rothberg. “The program is evidence-based and effective.” Six-month outcomes shared by Brown reveal significant improvements in student’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology, improved sex role attitudes, improved communication with parents about sex, and increased contraceptive use.

“Children’s Home Society of North Carolina provides training and certification to schools and organizations seeking to offer the Wise Guys program,” said Rothberg. “Funding models vary all over the country with backing provided by cities, towns, counties, state government, foundations, and women’s organizations.”

Wise Guys is available in the following NC counties: Alamance, Forsyth, Gaston, Guilford, Iredell, Johnston, Lenoir, Mecklenburg, Randolph, Rockingham, and Wayne.

“If we teach these boys how to be better young men and avoid the stereotypical traps, they will grow up to have healthier and happier relationships with their partners, with their own children growing up in a stable home,” said Rothberg. “That is the mission of Children’s Home Society of North Carolina, a safe, loving, and permanent home for every child.”
