CCHR will be holding a protest at the Florida Psychiatric Society conference in response to the alarming number of children given psychiatric labels and drugs.

When there are 274,000 infants and 370,000 toddlers on antianxiety and antidepressant drugs and over 1,400 infants on ADHD drugs something is terribly wrong.”

— Diane Stein, President CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FL, USA, March 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Currently over 7 million children are prescribed psychiatric drugs in the United States and more than 600 thousand are between the ages of zero to five. Children are being drugged at astonishingly high rates due to the psychiatric labeling of normal childhood behaviors as mental disorders. [1]

In response to the drugging of children with dangerous psychiatric medications, the Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a non-profit mental health watchdog dedicated to the protection of children, is holding a protest at the spring meeting of the Florida Psychiatric Society in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, March 30th. Anyone interested in joining the protest should contact CCHR Florida at (727) 442-8820.

Information gathered by CCHR shows that psychotropic drug prescriptions among infants doubled from 2013 to 2014 and that psychiatrists are prescribing these drugs to young children for aggression, temper tantrums, or lethargy despite the more than 400,000 adverse reaction reports filed with the U.S. FDA. [2] [3]

“Children are being given drugs that come with deadly side effects and according to experts there is a lack of scientific data to support the widespread use of these drugs with children,” said Diane Stein, president of CCHR Florida. [4]

At least 27 international drug regulatory agency warnings have been issued on psychiatric drugs linked to mania, psychosis violence, aggression and hostility.

Officials need to investigate the mounting evidence that psychiatric treatment and its failure has had something to do with a large percentage of the acts of violence occurring in our communities.”

— Diane Stein, President CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FL, USA, March 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a mental health watchdog dedicated to the protection of children, is warning lawmakers and educators not to adopt mental health screening and risk assessments in the false hope that it could prevent acts of violence and suicide since such actions usually result in psychiatric labels and a prescription for dangerous drugs. Citing the fact that antidepressants and antipsychotics have both been linked to violent effects in a percentage of those taking them, CCHR is urging officials to consider that the side effects of the drugs being prescribed to children in crisis may very well be behind the violence they are hoping to prevent. [1]

Admitting that only 1-10 percent of drug side effects are reported to its MedWatch program, the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System has at least 1,530 cases of homicide/homicidal ideation reported to it as linked to psychiatric drugs. Yet despite these facts, screenings and the usual resultant psychiatric drug prescriptions are still being pushed as the solution.

In a comprehensive report released last year, CCHR documented 36 school shootings and school-related acts of violence that date back to 1988 with all of the crimes committed by people either taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs. These acts of violence resulted in 172 people wounded and 80 killed.

Harvard Medical school psychiatrist Joseph Glenmullen is quoted in the report stating: “The irritability and impulsivity” from antidepressants, for example, “can make people suicidal or homicidal.” Also cited is Patrick D. Hahn, an affiliate professor of Biology at Loyola University in Maryland who confirms: “The link between antidepressants and violence, including suicide and homicide, is well established.” [2][3]

An international expert in psychopharmacology, also quoted in the report, Dr. David Healy, estimates that 90 percent of school shootings, over more than a decade leading up to 2012, were linked to SSRI antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, etc.).[2] Dr. Healy warns that: "Violence and other potentially criminal behavior caused by prescription drugs are medicine's best-kept secret."[4]

In the aftermath of recent school shootings, training in Mental Health First Aide and increased mental health screening of students has been a widely promoted response yet these actions simply lead to a significant number of individuals being labeled and drugged with the very same psychotropics linked to violence in the first place.

CCHR warns that the current course of action, increased mental health, will not only escalate state budgets for no equitable or positive return but more importantly, will put more students, teachers and the community at risk of increased violence. Individuals concerned with the link between violence and psychiatric drugs are encouraged to send a copy of the report, Psychiatric Drugs Create Violence & Suicide: Putting the Community at Risk to their legislative representative calling for an investigation. https://www.cchrint.org/pdfs/violence-report.pdf

Sri Lanka: On 31 March 2019 – TGTE Will Announce a Justice Initiative on Behalf of Victims

TGTE Logo5

This initiative is in response to the failure of the UN Human Rights Council and the international community to effectively promote justice for Tamil victims.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ —

On 31 March 2019, the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) will announce an initiative to commence on the tenth anniversary of the end of the conflict. This initiative is in response to the failure of the Human Rights Council and the international community to effectively promote justice for Tamil victims. It will take steps to assert the right of victims to know the truth about what happened to their loved ones and to obtain justice for them.

The TGTE will call upon other organizations representing Tamil victims to join in this effort. The TGTE will call upon all countries and people of conscience to join in this initiative to ensure that the international community no longer “ignores” atrocity crimes, whether they be committed in Syria, Myanmar or Sri Lanka.

At the end of last week, the Human Rights Council passed its latest resolution on Sri Lanka (A/HRC/40/L.1).

The resolution makes no mention of Sri Lanka’s complete failure to investigate the atrocity crimes committed against Tamil victims and UN employees. It omits any reference to the three UN reports establishing these crimes with evidence. It fails to mention the High Commissioner’s recommendation in 2015 for an special international tribunal. It avoids the conclusion of every report by the High Commissioner since the adoption of Resolution A/HRC/30/1, that Sri Lanka has failed in its core obligation to investigate crimes.

It ignores the High Commissioner’s most recent conclusion:

“Since 2015, virtually no progress has been made in investigating or prosecuting domestically the large number of allegations of war crimes or crimes against humanity collected by OHCHR in its investigation, and particularly those relating to military operations at the end of the war.”
H.E. Ms. Michelle Bachelet Jeria, The High Commissioner for Human Rights, 8 February 2019, (A/HRC/40/23)

The Council, in an outrageously cavalier resolution, ignores Sri Lanka’s persistent and public refusal to hold perpetrators accountable and “requests the Government of Sri Lanka to implement fully the measures identified by the Council in its resolution 30/1 that are outstanding.” The failure of Sri Lanka to start a credible justice mechanism and the Council’s willful blindness in response, continuesto cause suffering to Tamil victims. For these people, justice is not merely an “outstanding measure.”

Sadly, the Council’s apathy to the continued suffering of victims and their families is not unique to Sri Lanka. We have entered a new era of international relations where atrocities in Sri Lanka, Syria and Myanmar are not met with the firm resolve demonstrated in Nuremberg, Yugoslavia and Rwanda. Instead, the international community has become tired and complacent. Its feigned outrage at atrocity crimes now dissipates quickly and without embarrassment. International investigations and prosecutions of the killing of over 7,000 men and boys in Srebrenica began immediatelyin 1995. The first step towards accountability has yet to be taken with respect to the 70 thousand civilians killed in Sri Lanka a decade later.

The international community has forgotten the warning Justice Robert Jackson, the Chief Prosecutor gave in his opening statement at Nuremberg explaining why justice for atrocity crimes must be undertaken no matter what the cost or how politically difficult: “civilization cannot tolerate their [atrocity crimes] being ignored, because it cannot survive them being repeated.”

This May will mark ten years since the end of the conflict in Sri Lanka; the world’s realization of the full extent of the atrocities committed by the Army of Sri Lanka; and the international community’s complicity in denying victims justice.

AMCD calls on Secretary Pompeo to Engage Ex-Pat Lebanese Leaders

Pompeo and Aoun

U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo meets with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Beirut, Lebanon, on March 22, 2019. [State Department photo by Ron Przysucha/ Public Domain]

Just as Cuban Americans engage with American policy on Cuba, Lebanese Americans stand ready to engage on Lebanon.

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy calls on the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to engage Lebanese leaders outside of Lebanon who are not beholden to Hezbollah and who have fought for a free and independent Lebanon for decades.

The Lebanese American community is one of our most successful immigrant groups, with many Lebanese making their way up the ladder of success in business, academia, sports, the arts, and politics. Some have dedicated their lives to helping Lebanon achieve true pluralistic freedom such as they enjoy in America.

Just as the State Department officially engages the Cuban and Venezuelan communities in the US in order to pressure Cuba and Venezuela on socialism, so should the US employ the American Lebanese community to help make its points against Hezbollah’s domination of Lebanon’s government.

Lebanese Americans played an important role in the Syrian Accountability Act & UN Resolution 1559, which called on all militias operating in Lebanon to disarm.

American Lebanese were also active during the Trump Campaign and are pro-active now as well in Arab media conveying the positive agenda of President Trump.

Lebanese Americans are prepared to help free their homeland from the grip of this dangerous terror organization. Hezbollah must be expelled from Lebanon. Iranian influence in the internal politics of other countries must cease – starting in Lebanon.

American Lebanese are with you Mr. Secretary! Please give them the opportunity to show it.

Barry Hers reveals more about his support for NYC's HASA housing program

Barry Hers

Landlord and real estate professional Barry Hers looks back on his decades of support for New York City's HIV/AIDS Services Administration housing program.

NEW YORK , NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Established as the HIV/AIDS Services Administration, HASA—as the organization is known today—is focused on assisting individuals based in New York City living with AIDS or HIV-related illnesses to enjoy healthier and more independent lives. Responsible for a variety of related initiatives, HASA is perhaps best known for its housing program, generously supported by property investors and landlords such as Barry Hers, who here reveals more about his decades of support for HASA and other good causes in the city.

"Originally established in the 1980s, I was among the first landlords in New York to embrace the organization's housing program here in the city," reveals Hers of his early support for HASA.

Hers, who owns numerous properties in Brooklyn and elsewhere throughout New York City, is well known for his generosity, having also contributed heavily toward the city's Emergency Rental Assistance Program in addition to supporting HASA's housing efforts. "Since initially committing to HASA's efforts, I've housed countless individuals," says Barry Hers, "at properties including 60 Clarkson Avenue, Brooklyn, and a nearby address on Flatbush Avenue."

Further to its housing program, the organization also serves to help those in need with personalized service plans designed to target important benefits. "HASA is also dedicated to providing support specific to an individual's medical situation," adds Hers, "tailored toward further enhancing their well-being."

With centers located in all five of New York City's boroughs, HASA is also committed to providing cash assistance, transportation assistance, home care, mental health and substance abuse screening, treatment referrals, and employment and vocational services.

In addition to properties on Clarkson Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, property investor Hers also owns a plethora of other addresses, many of which have been entered into both HASA and New York City's Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Hers, as a real estate professional, has also brokered deals on an abundance of other properties in the city intended for dedication to HASA's housing initiative.

"Over the course of the last three decades," Barry Hers adds, wrapping up, "I've further made it my mission to persuade fellow landlords in New York City to join HASA's housing program as demand for properties has grown."

FORT MYERS, FL, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — There are few sports the exemplify self-reliance more than the competitive sport of golf. The desire and dedication an individual must develop is paramount to their success. Proceeds from this effort will go to fund and expand FVI’s Self Reliance Club project, which includes elementary and middle schools in Lee and Collier County. The eighth annual Daniel D. Wright Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 7:30 am to 3 pm at Grandezza Golf and Country Club, located at 11481 Grande Oaks Boulevard in Estero. Founder and Executive Director Ismael Hernandez is asking for teams to register before it’s too late. Proceeds from this effort will go to fund and expand FVI’s Self Reliance Clubs (SRC) initiative, now an international program.

Registration begins at 7:30 am the day of the tournament and the event includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf at one of the best and most challenging courses in southwest Florida, signature barbeque luncheon, raffles, and silent auction items, and a short program. In addition to fabulous golf, there are contests and prizes for the participants. A shotgun start and scramble format help golfers traverse through the green.

Initially started in Lee and Collier counties, the SRC includes elementary and middle schools. This initiative provides students with the opportunity to earn money for school and other education-related supplies through the achievement of goals, school performance, extra-curricular activities like urban farming, and volunteerism; achievement and reward that comes from the initiative, hard work, and self-reliance. The SRC helps our young people make the connection between hard work, self-reliance, and accomplishment. Corporate and individual sponsorships are still available for this anticipation and well attended event. Individual and team golf registrations are also available.

“This event has become one that our supporters don’t want to miss and also provides an insight to people unfamiliar with our organization,” states Ismael Hernandez, Executive Director of the Institute. The scramble format is popular and golfers of all ages and skill levels participate. Grandezza is an incredible site and the day promises to be memorable for everyone involved.

VictimsSpeakDB.org is Now Closed; Future Research About Clergy Sex Abuse Will Be Published on the VictimsSpeakDB blog

Clergy Confessing His Sins in Vatican

Confession at the Vatican

Due to limited interest in statistical data about clergy sex abuse in the Catholic Church, VictimsSpeakDB closed its website on March 19 to focus on its blog.

The Roman Catholic Church can no longer exert its moral authority because it is has become an institution controlled by men who are intrinsically immoral. We are watching its demise in real time.”

— G.R. Pafumi

SPRING VALLEY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Due to limited interest in statistical data about clergy sex abuse in the Catholic Church, VictimsSpeakDB closed its website on March 19, 2019. It had been available online for more than two years. The website closed when the licenses to the site expired. However, G.R. Pafumi, founder of VictimsSpeakDb.org, plans to maintain the two SACCADAS (Survivor Accounts of Catholic Clergy Abuse, Denial, Accountability and Silence) databases, one covering the victims and the other covering clergy offenders. Mr. Pafumi will continue monitoring clergy abuse and report its results on the VictimsSpeakDB blog.

Mr. Pafumi said, "While I enjoyed doing the research and posting its results on the VictimsSpeakDb website, I found little interest in the data. Legislators and victims' groups seem to be concentrating more on the personal aspects of abuse than a statistical analysis of it. I would think that legislators who are considering expanding the statute of limitation to report sex crimes against children would want to know how long it takes the average person to come forward and report a crime. This is not the case."

VictimsSpeakDb.org will make its updated data available to those in need. He can reached at the VictimsSpeakDB blog website. A user only needs to make a query request or post a comment to any blog and Mr. Pafumi will reply. It is preferred for the user to leave his name and email address in a comment if he or she expects a timely reply. Mr. Pafumi also can also reached at VictimsSpeakDB@Outlook.com.

Victims and others interested in a chronology and history of sex abuse in the Catholic Church can purchase any of Mr. Pafumi's four books about this subject on Amazon.com. Through the end of March, all four books will be offered at a substantial discount. As of April 1, 2019, all of G.R.Pafumi's books will revert to their original list prices.
