An exhibit at the Founding Church of Scientology of Washington, D.C., showed that students from around the globe share the common dream of a world at peace.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, September 30, 2019 / — The National Office of Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) celebrated International Day of Peace with an interactive pop-up art exhibit at the Founding Church of Scientology in Washington, D.C., highlighting the history and importance of human rights. The exhibit featured student artwork from 13 countries.

“Touring through the exhibit was really moving,” said one visitor. “It inspired me to want to do more human rights activism in my community.”

Another said, “Art is powerful stuff and when you combine it with a message as powerful as basic human rights, that is life-changing.”

“We wanted to expand upon last year’s exhibit focus,” said Erica Rodgers, Director of the National Office of Youth for Human Rights International and organizer of the exhibit. “We curated an art exhibit that showcased beautiful artwork from students around the world that gave a powerful message of the pressing human rights issues that face our society globally. Understanding human rights in today’s political climate is vital. A more peaceful society will only happen when all people treat one another with respect and decency.”

Each year Youth for Human Rights International hosts global competitions for art, essays and poetry on human rights themes. The works of the winners and finalists of the 2019 art competition will be featured at the 2020 Peace Day Pop-Up Art Exhibit in Washington, DC.

Sylvia Stanard of the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office said that protecting the basic human rights of all people has been one of the core values of the Scientology religion since its founding in 1954. “L. Ron Hubbard was a humanitarian and firm supporter of human rights and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He believed that human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream, and as a natural result, the Church of Scientology sponsors human rights campaigns such as Youth for Human Rights International to help fulfill his vision of a better world where human rights are a living reality.”

Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to teach youth about human rights, specifically the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and inspire them to become valuable advocates for tolerance and peace. YHRI teaches human rights education both in the classroom and in nontraditional educational settings such as through art, concerts and other interactive community events. Oklahoma Public Schools: The Increasing Sexual Assault Issues

Not everyone shocked by sexual abuse allegations against Peckham superintendent

Former Peckham Superintendent: Gary Young

OK Truth News Bring OK the story first!

Are children safe in Oklahoma schools?

The Question Must Be Asked

#MeToo in Schools?

#MeToo in Schools?

The frequency of sexual crimes by Oklahoma teachers is on the rise! What you need to know.

Is your little girl safe at school?”

— Paul Walker

TULSA, OK, USA, September 30, 2019 / — The issues of sexual assault that involve teachers, coaches and administrators make many citizens of Tulsa, OK very nervous. This issue appears for be on the rise. Recently, multiple sexual abuse allegations surfaced against former Peckham County Superintendent Gary Young. According to several parents and other teachers there was always suppression that Mr. Young's behavior was questionable. It is time that everyone listens to the voices, concerns and issues of our children.

According to the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, “every person having reason to believe that a child under the age of eighteen (18) years is a victim of abuse or neglect shall report the matter promptly to the Department of Human Services.” 10A O.S. § 1-6-102. Reports shall be made to the state toll free hotline at 1-800-522-3511. This is a personal obligation, and no school official can in any way prevent any person from making this report.

OK Truth News strives to provide information on topics that matter to our viewers. The request over the past three months have highlighted that a number of cases are not taken seriously by the schools. One parent indicated that they their child had been abused by a coach and the school did not reflect this allegation in the teachers personnel file. This makes many parents and concerned citizens ask why. The favoritism or desire to not ruin a person career is not a exception to the mandatory reporting requirement set out by the Oklahoma state laws. This is an issue that everyone who has a child needs to fight for transparency.

Does reform of the process for investigations into sexual abuse need to be reviewed at a higher level? The need for a movement for transparency needs to be formed in Oklahoma. This is a major area for sex trafficking and exploitation of the next generation. Now is the time to start the conversations with our children about what is right and wrong as it pertains to these types of issues. We need legislators on the Senate Education Committee to step in and listen to the voters to make laws that really make a difference.

The question of children being safe is public schools have never been more important than right now. The number allegations of sexual misconduct against teachers, administrators and leadership continue to come to the surface in Oklahoma. This is not just in one area but across the most counties. One must ask why these allegations are coming out now. The fear is that the issue has always been present in the public schools! The National Center for Educations Statistics' (NCES) annual "Crime, Violence, Discipline, and Safety in U.S. Public Schools" report reveals 5.2% of the 2,762 K-12 schools completing the survey for 2017-18 reported at least one incident of sexual assault other than rape, compared with 3.4% in 2015-16, Education Week reports. While the number of reported sexual assaults other than rape increased significantly, from roughly 6,100 in the 2015-16 school year to roughly 7,100 in the 2017-18 school year, the number of reported rapes or attempted rapes did not increase.

Is this a by-product of Oklahoma’s Me Too movement? After talking with over 25 graduates of the Tulsa Oklahoma School system, the answer is very clear. The problem has always been known, even as far back as grade and middle school. The need to speak out still has its risk because of the fear the adults not listen to them. Some advocacy groups like the American Association of University Women, however, feel incidents of sexual assault are still under-reported, as some school officials still lack the training or the will to distinguish sexual violence or bullying from reports of bullying in general. Though the #MeToo movement has drawn attention to the issue of sexual harassment, especially in colleges and the workplace, the issue is also a growing factor in K-12 education.

The lack of listen can be seen across multiple geographical locations and predator rich environments that range from the Olympic Gymnastics Team doctor to coaches and even principals. Is there a bias within the school system to not take allegations seriously because of the person in question? We must take a stand against the lack of transparency in the Oklahoma School System. Our children depend on our support at all cost. These are the next generation and our lack of staying silent will only prolong the damage of other children who our voices could have saved from these actions.

— L.A. Times

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, September 30, 2019 / — A timely new feature documentary, BARNEY'S WALL: Portrait of a Game Changer, will open the Prague Writers’ Festival on October 16, 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic.

Through vast archival footage and incisive commentary from major cultural figures, this 78 minute feature documentary traces a pivotal era in world literature.

The film probes the lasting and cultural impact of BARNEY ROSSET, radical Grove Press publisher, free-speech warrior and political activist, one of the most influential cultural impresarios of the last half of the 20th century. Rosset’s fierce mid-century battles against government censorship and surveillance, racial bigotry and the Vietnam war birthed the American 60s counter-culture rebellion, paving the way to today’s unfettered artistic expression.

In an era that is facing social and political upheavals similar to the 50s and 60s, the film is meant to underline the fragility of America's First Amendment rights and civil liberties.

Barney Rosset’s Grove Press/Evergreen Review brought to the reading public an extensive list of the European avant-garde of the 50s and 60s, including European Absurdist dramatists Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, Jean Genet, Arthur Adamov, and Václav Havel.

The Prague Writers' Festival (PWF) is an annual literary festival in Prague, Czech Republic, taking place every spring since 1991. International literary figures to have appeared at the festival include John Banville, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Salman Rushdie, Irvine Welsh, William Styron and Nadine Gordimer. This year’s writers include Patrizia Cavalli, Michael Cunningham, James Gabbe, Germaine Greer, Arnon Grunberg, Wendy Guerra, Alma Guillermoprieto, Nancy Huston, François Jullien, Sandy Gotham Meehan, and Astrid Myers Rosset.

At his death at 89, Rosset left behind a wall of his memories, encapsulated in intricate vignettes embedded into a 15’ x 22’ wall of his East Village loft. The film uses the vignettes as portals into the formative influences that drove a rebel, war photographer, filmmaker and publisher to an enduring defense of freedom of artistic expression. The loft and the wall have been destroyed by real estate developers undertaking the gentrification of the Lower East Side of NYC. The film is the only record of both.

The documentary has been privately screened at major cultural venues in New York City, San Francisco, Santa Fe, and Paris. Two successful Kickstarters helped fund production of the film.

Produced by FoxHog Productions, NYC, an independent media company that produces and invests in films and video about artists and thinkers whose provocative work alters the cultural and intellectual status quo.

Directed by Sandy Gotham Meehan and Williams Cole, cinematography by David Leitner, edited by Kasia Plazinska.

NTI COO Alan Hubbard Presents at 2019 Remote Working Summit: When Altruism Works, Business Benefits

Alan Hubbard, COO of NTI

Alan Hubbard, COO of NTI

Alan Hubbard, COO of NTI, shared how altruism in hiring Americans with disabilities can mean gains to the bottom line at the 2019 Remote Working Summit.

Because our agents have a disability and need to work from home, they often enjoy shorter shifts, leaving them fresh sounding and ready to work when needed.”

— Alan W. Hubbard, COO of NTI

BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES, September 30, 2019 / — DALLAS–The 2019 Remote Working Summit from Customer Contact Strategies was held in Dallas, Texas March 4-6. Over 30% of the world’s workforce does at least some work from home, with the U.S. having the highest number of at-home workers. As more companies are seeing the benefits of hiring employees who work all or part of their schedule from home, conferences like this are becoming increasingly popular as business professionals and C-Suite executives search for strategies to make a successful transition to a work-at-home employee base.

NTI is familiar with the ins and outs of at-home employment. For more than 20 years, NTI has partnered with businesses interested in the benefits of inclusion and an at-home workforce. NTI works exclusively with Americans with disabilities who need to work from home. NTI trains them for call center, customer service, and IT help desk positions and then helps them find jobs with Fortune 500 companies.

Alan Hubbard, COO of NTI, was one of the presenters at the Remote Working Summit. He highlighted NTI’s unique business model, showcasing how NTI employs altruism and Americans with disabilities to benefit the bottom line of the modern contact center. Hubbard shared with those in attendance how NTI trained agents have attrition rates up to 35% lower than average. Stopping the cycle of attrition is key to making contact centers profitable.

One of the things Hubbard shared, and the secret to NTI’s success, is their nationally recognized mentoring program. Every person who registers with NTI is immediately assigned a mentor whose job it is to help with every step of the process from registration paperwork and training all the way through the first 90 days of successful employment. Providing individualized mentoring to every applicant increases the number of people who complete training and find employment. By continuing the mentor-mentee relationship for 90 days after employment begins, NTI offers a much-needed support system, lowering attrition rates and making the transition to working at home easy for the individual with a disability as well as for the employer.

Contact centers that choose to use an at-home workforce benefit from the scheduling flexibility provided. Hubbard mentioned that NTI agents are a good fit for split shifts and micro-scheduling, saying, “Because our agents have a disability and need to work from home, they often enjoy shorter shifts, leaving them fresh sounding and ready to work when needed.” Another benefit Hubbard shared that comes with using NTI agents is their nationwide availability, making it easy to provide peak staffing, including during local emergencies and inclement weather. A nationwide base of at-home employees ensures additional attendance and productivity compared to traditional contact centers.

Hubbard’s presentation can be viewed on NTI’s YouTube channel at

Letter to future Prime Minister of Canada from Canadians with disabilities. Assistance in Living: not Assisted Suicide

Lisa wants assistance in living, not suicide assistance.

Two Canadians demand the future Prime Minister of Canada to appeal the recent Quebec ruling that allows people with years to live to prematurely end their lives

Our Canadian and provincial governments are more interested in legislating death than in promoting better health care and life assistance for all its people.”

— Dr. Paul Saba

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, September 30, 2019 / — Two Canadian living with disabilities are appealing to the future Prime Minister of Canada during the upcoming elections to appeal the recent Quebec Superior Court judgement which allows people with disabilities who have many years to live to prematurely end their lives. This judgement highlights the dangerous expansion of euthanasia and assisted suicide that currently has killed approximately 7000 Canadians from 2016-2019.

Lisa D’Amico now in her 50s was born with cerebral palsy. She is President of Victims of Medical Errors which defends the rights of people with disabilities.

She lives in extreme poverty with an annual income of about $12,000 CDN yearly from the government’s social programme. Often she cannot afford more than one meal a day. She cannot afford, physical and hydrotherapy that would help improve her physical condition. Moreover she is unable to significantly supplement her income by part-time work ($2400 CDN yearly) or accept donations of more than $200 CDN to improve her quality of life. She is not even allowed to accept an airplane ticket to go South in the winter. Even when given an opportunity, the government forbids her from leaving the province for more than 7 consecutive days to travel within Canada or abroad, even in winter.

According to Lisa “you have a situation of perfect distress for wanting to choose euthanasia."

Jonathan Marchand is President of Coop ASSIST (Quebec Cooperative for Independent Living).

Jonathan is in his 40s and has lived with a form of muscular dystrophy since the age of 15. After a bout of severe pneumonia, he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit and required an emergency tracheotomy to help him breathe. He is now ventilator dependent and needs assistance. Previously Jonathan worked as a senior computer network engineer in Quebec and overseas in Australia.

Jonathan has been forced to live in a government run institution against his will since 2012.
Nearly 70% of people with disabilities who need help like Jonathan are institutionalized in Quebec due to the lack of adequate support services in the community. This numbers around 15,000 people in Quebec and 60,000 people in Canada.
According to Jonathan "Many doctors offered me euthanasia, which they call "comfort care” to end my life.
Because there is no support services to live outside hospitals for people like me in Quebec, I have to choose between death or live in a hospital or a nursing home for the rest of my life."

According to Jonathan this situation exists despite the fact that governments can save millions of dollars to deinstitutionalize people with disabilities (figures available).

"I have never been offered the possibility of being able to continue my life at home with the help I need. In institutions, you lose autonomy and control over your life.

I never asked for help to die, I was getting better.

They were ready to help me commit suicide and not provide assistance for me to live. It's not a real choice. "
Despite this, he refuses to give up his life, his wife, family and friends.

According to Lisa and Jonathan, how can we talk about “assisted suicide and euthanasia” for people with disabilities when they do not even have help to live.

What they are asking for is not to die, but rather the support to live in the community to participate and contribute actively to society.

In the end, Dr. Paul Saba who has been a leading advocate for patients’ rights to live, states that Canada's assisted suicide and euthanasia laws have created an open door for abuse and harm for all Canadians, who will one day in their lives face health challenges that will require health and life assistance. "Our Canadian and provincial governments are more interested in legislating death than in promoting better health care and life assistance for all its people. This is extremely unfair.”
