AMCD Commends UN Secretary General for Stance on Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, November 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy commends United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres for boldly calling for the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon. A new UN report has confirmed that Hezbollah is preventing the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon from operating in Hezbollah-controlled areas. In September, Hezbollah launched rockets against Israel’s defense forces in Northern Israel and the terror group is now preventing the UNIFIL from inspecting the area.

Said Secretary General Guterres, “I call upon the Government of Lebanon to take all actions necessary to ensure the full implementation of the relevant provisions of the Taif Accords and of resolutions 1559 (2004) and 1680 (2006), which require the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon so that there will be no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than those of the Lebanese State.”

“The Lebanese government must disarm Hezbollah or it will never regain full sovereignty over its territory,” said AMCD co-chair, John Hajjar. “Unfortunately, the government may not be strong enough to accomplish this alone and the UN peacekeeping force does not have the mandate to help with that mission. The UNIFIL was tasked with keeping the peace between Lebanon and Israel after the Lebanese government was supposed to have disarmed this terrorist organization. Unfortunately, Hezbollah never disarmed and so Iran now has control of vast swathes of Southern Lebanon.”

“No country can survive in the long-run with a foreign terrorist organization operating freely within its territory,” added AMCD co-chair, Tom Harb. “Iran has poured millions of dollars into Lebanon, employing Hezbollah fighters and supplying them with advanced weapons, including the rockets they fire into Israel. If Lebanon is to survive, its national armed forces must be strengthened while Iran’s forces are diminished.”

“We applaud President Trump for applying strong sanctions against Iran,” said AMCD vice-chair, Hossein Khorram. “The people of Iran are rising up in protest against their nation’s limited resources being lavished on terrorist groups in foreign countries. They’re tired of sacrificing for the mullah’s foreign adventures. They want to turn toward positive goals of national development and away from the mullahs’ obsession with destroying Israel.”

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is a democratically elected Government of over a million strong Tamils (from the island of Sri Lanka) living in several countries around the world.

TGTE was formed after the mass killing of Tamils by the Sri Lankan Government in 2009.

TGTE is leading a campaign to realize the political aspirations of Tamils through peaceful, democratic, and diplomatic means and its Constitution mandates that it should realize its political objectives only through peaceful means. It’s based on the principles of nationhood, homeland and self-determination.

TGTE seeks that the international community hold the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against the Tamil people to account. TGTE calls for a referendum to decide the political future of Tamils.

The Prime Minister of TGTE is Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, a New York based lawyer.

BACKGROUND

Tamils in the island of Sri Lanka faced repeated mass killings in 1958, 1977, and 1983 and the mass killings in 2009 prompted UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to appoint a Panel of Experts to report on the scale of the killings.

According to UN internal review report on Sri Lanka, over 70 thousand Tamils were killed in six months in early 2009 and Tamil women were sexually assaulted and raped by the Sri Lankan Security forces.

A report by the International Truth and Justice Project (ITJP) published details of Sri Lankan Military run "Rape Camps", where Tamil women are being held as sex slaves. There are over 90,000 Tamil war widows and thousands of Tamils disappeared due the conflict.

According to this UN report, the killings and other abuses that took place amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Independent experts believe that there are elements of these abuses that constitute an act of genocide.

Members of the Sri Lankan security forces are almost exclusively from the Sinhalese community and the victims are all from the Tamil community. A Buddhist Monk shot and killed a Sri Lankan Prime Minister 1959 for having talks with Tamils.

Tamils overwhelmingly voted in a Parliamentary election in 1977 to establish an independent and sovereign country called Tamil Eelam. This Parliamentary election was conducted by the Sri Lankan Government.

NCRI-US Press Conference Chronicles People’s Bravery, Regime’s Atrocities, MEK’s Resistance Units’ Prowess

By ordering the ruthless killing of the protesters, Khamenei has expedited the process of his regime’s overthrow.”

— Soona Samsami

WASHINGTON, DC, US, November 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, the US representative office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI-US) held a press conference in Washington, coinciding with its release of a 60-page report on the uprising seeking regime change in Iran, which began on November 15.

Soona Samsami, the NCRI’s US representative, introduced the report, entitled “Uprising Shakes Iran Regime’s Foundation,” and announced that according to the latest casualty figures provided by the MEK’s Resistance units inside Iran, over 450 protesters have so far been killed, 4,000 more wounded and over 10,000 detained by the regime’s multitude of repressive forces in over 179 towns and cities which represent all of Iran’s 31 provinces. The identities of 154 martyrs for freedom have so far been determined and their names released.

Providing context for the unprecedented level of brute force used by the regime to quash the uprising, Ms. Samsami said: “The mullahs’ regime is facing an impasse and the crisis of overthrow. It has found its only recourse in suppression and killings. But in the end, Iran’s dictators will see the opposite results from their policies. By ordering the ruthless killing of the protesters, Khamenei has expedited the process of his regime’s overthrow. Hassan Rouhani put aside his election-time moderate posturing and called for the suppression of the people.

“The crimes carried out by the Iranian regime against our people are by any measure crimes against humanity. World governments and the international community must set aside all considerations and reservations about the regime. They should demand an immediate halt to the killings and arrests. If the regime does not comply, they must readily pull the trigger of UN Security Council sanctions,” she added.

Alireza Jafarzadeh, NCRI-US’ Deputy Director, explained that the symbols of the regime’s suppression, theft and corruption were attacked by protestors. All these properties were affiliated with the IRGC or Khamenei. State-run gas stations and banks linked to the IRGC and the Supreme Leader, security forces’ vehicles, Bassij centers, state-run seminaries and offices of mullahs affiliated with Khamenei were targeted by the protesters, who have suffered decades of suppression and the thievery of their wealth. People also destroyed or set fire to large posters of Khamenei and those of his predecessor, Khomeini.

Jafarzadeh added that the slogans most chanted by protesters were: “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to the Dictator,” and “Death to Rouhani.” The slogan, “Our enemy is right here; they lie when they say it’s America,” clearly shows that the people hold solely the regime responsible for their economic miseries.

The NCRI-US official noted that the newly published report on the uprising divulges the identities and pictures of 87 key officials involved in the murderous suppression of the protests in seven provinces, scenes of the most significant, widespread, and pervasive protests: Tehran, Alborz, Khuzestan, Fars, Isfahan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah.

Jafarzadeh said that Resistance units of the MEK played a key role during the uprising. These Resistance units were formed several years ago and have spread throughout the country. They have a wealth of experience gained on the ground. Statements by the regime’s officials also attest to this fact.

Jafarzadeh provided the main takeaways from the nationwide uprising which by all indications has shaken the regime’s foundations. They are:
1. The uprising showed that overthrow of the regime is attainable, as people targeted main symbols of repression, theft, and corruption.
2. The people consider the regime and all its factions as illegitimate. The people are ready to pay the price to unseat the ayatollahs.
3. The utter weakness of the regime, manifested by its barbaric and rampant use of brute force, as well as its shutting down the internet, was on display.
4. The gains of the uprising are irreversible and no matter how deep or wide the state suppression, the unrest will continue.
5. The role of the organized opposition exemplified by the Resistance units and councils formed by the MEK was key and will continue until the regime is brought down.

Jafarzadeh concluded his remarks by calling for the following measures to be taken by the international community:
● The slaughter of protesters is a clear case of a crime against humanity. Therefore, the United Nations Security Council, and governments should take urgent action to halt the killings and suppression and secure the release of political prisoners.
● Investigative missions must be sent to Iran to evaluate the scope of the crimes and examine the cases of those killed, wounded and/or detained.
● The leaders of the regime, e.g., Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani, must be held accountable for crimes against humanity.
● The United States should sanction Western companies that aid the Iranian regime with the sale and provision of services and products that enable it to monitor, control, and block internet access by Iranian citizens. While adopting all measures necessary to diminish and disable the regime’s capacity to block internet traffic, the United States should provide safe, secure, and uninterruptible internet access to Iran’s people, including the protesters.
● It is time for the world to recognize the right of the Iranian people to change the repressive regime and establish a democratic, pluralistic and non-nuclear republic based on separation of religion and state.

Educating Pakistani Youth on Their Human Rights

The first step in resolving human rights issues is education.

Youth for Human Rights believes human rights education can improve the lives of Pakistani youth.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On the eve of the 71st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, December 10, Pakistan’s youth lag behind most countries for education and other basic rights. According to the KidsRights Index, an annual global index that ranks how countries adhere to and are equipped to improve children’s rights, of 183 countries ranked, Pakistan was found at 154.

An article in the Daily Pakistan last year estimated “around 10 million Pakistani kids have to work to help their families at school-going age. Many are sold as domestic servants who are treated as slaves with no rights.” It also points out that the majority of Pakistani children have to toil in the agriculture sector without compensation while others work at workshops. They are denied an education that could improve their chances of becoming employed.

While the government is working to right these issues, the problem is systemic, driven by poverty and the huge proportion of the population comprised of children or young adults. Nearly a third of the country is younger than 15 and more than 50 percent under 25.

Youth for Human Rights believes that vital to improving conditions for children is educating those who are in school on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. By understanding that the 30 rights enshrined in the document belong to all people, young and old, they will become advocates for programs that provide these rights to all segments of the population.

In one community, where most of the children work as laborers in the brick kilns, educating those attending school on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights resulted in 35 who were working in the kilns returning to school, as the students reached out to help their friends. That was just a start in one community, but it shows the power of making these rights known.

Youth for Human Rights International is the youth component of United for Human Rights (UHR), an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to implementing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at local, regional, national and international levels. Its membership is comprised of individuals, educators and groups throughout the world who are actively forwarding the knowledge and protection of human rights by and for all Mankind.

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — It is estimated that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. Many of these victims are children within the United States. In a nation where such fundamental human rights are being abused, a group of human rights advocates have decided to gather together to stand up for human rights. On Sunday, December 8th, 2019, at 1 pm, the Youth for Human Rights DC Chapter will lead a march to stand up for the rights of children and victims of human trafficking around the country. The march will also be done in honor of the 71st Anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The march begins at the iconic Lincoln Memorial and ends at the World War II Memorial. Attendees are being encouraged to wear something blue in support of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Like-minded organizations are encouraged to join in the DC march and can register to participate in the #StandUp4HumanRightsMarch by going to: BIT.LY/HUMANRIGHTSMARCH2019

Erica Rodgers, the Director of the National Office of Youth for Human Rights and organizer of the march said, “We will march as a community to raise awareness of human rights and to bring hope at the idea of a brighter future where human rights will be respected by all.”

The United Nations launched their human rights awareness campaign under the banner of #StandUp4HumanRights in December of 2016. Over the past five years, Youth for Human Rights DC’s annual march has continued to support that same theme.

Adopted 71 years ago on December 10, 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was compiled as a result of the egregious human rights abuses perpetrated during the Second World War. With the end of that war, and the creation of the United Nations, the international community vowed never to allow atrocities of that kind to ever happen again.

The Youth for Human Rights DC march is part of a global series of events happening in many cities across the US as well as countries around the world in celebration of Human Rights Day 2019. To learn about similar marches happening near you email activities@humanrights.com.

AMCD Lends Cautious Support for Admin Proposal to Tie Aid to Religious Freedom

North Korean prison camp

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy supports the Administration’s proposal for conditioning foreign aid to the state of religious freedom in those countries receiving aid from the US government.

“The devil is in the details, as with any new proposal,” said AMCD co-chair, Tom Harb. “However, freedom of thought, belief, and conscience, are basic to our understanding of our God-given rights. Freedom of belief is a basic human right that should never be taken away.”

“This over-arching principle will create a way to orient US policy which is consistent with American values,” said AMCD vice-chair, Hossein Khorram. “We oppose those philosophies which require forced conformity from the people, such as communism and Islamic government. Both systems require citizens to limit their own thoughts, speech and actions in order to conform to a specific philosophy.”

“I think it's what the US stands for, religious liberty, and should be reflected in our aid and foreign policy,” said AMCD co-chair, John Hajjar. “US policy has been schizophrenic for years and this could be the guiding principle rather than realpolitik, even though national security will still take precedence. Over-all I think it could be very useful in guiding our foreign policy.”

“The rule of law must be applied to individuals, not to groups,” added AMCD Secretary Rebecca Bynum. “This is what separates Western civilization from thought-systems like communism or Islamic government where the law is applied according to membership in a group. We cannot help but regard this as basically unfair and unjust. Freedom of religion is a good yardstick by which to measure freedom in general and we should always favor freedom.”

New Documentary Exposes Electroshock as $5.4 Billion Brutal Fraud

The Executive Director of Citizens Commission on Human Rights of Sacramento addresses the audience on the brutal effects of ECT and why it needs to be banned.

The Executive Director of CCHR Sacramento discusses the documentary “Therapy or Torture, The Truth about Electroshock.”

CCHR of Sacramento premiered documentary exposing the brutal effects of electroshock, calling for a ban of this $5.4 billion psychiatric fraud.

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) of Sacramento marked the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women with the local premiere of "Therapy or Torture, The Truth about Electroshock." Public gathered at the Church of Scientology in downtown Sacramento to learn the truth about this barbaric “treatment” which most people think was banned in 1976 but in reality is a $5.4 billion industry.

“It is especially appropriate to hold the premiere today since electroshock (ECT) is an extremely brutal and damaging form of violence that more women than men are subjected to. Research shows two thirds of ECT patients are women[1],” said Jim Van Hill, executive director of CCHR Sacramento.

Many people don’t even know that electroshock therapy is being used today. “It’s being touted as something new and improved by psychiatrists. It isn’t. It’s one of the most brutal ‘treatments’ ever inflicted upon individuals under the guise of mental health,” he added.

An ECT “treatment” sends up to 460 volts of electricity[2] through the brain, inducing a grand mal seizure. As a point of reference, that is enough electricity to power five stadium lights.

1.4 million people worldwide, including an estimated 100,000 Americans, are electroshocked each year, including the elderly, pregnant women and children.[3] Many are involuntary patients or had ECT forced on them.[4]

Psychiatrists — who admit they don’t know how ECT “works” and are mostly ignorant about the laws of electricity – theorize that a grand mal seizure “resets” or “reboots” the brain. This theory has never been proven. On the contrary, there is much evidence that ECT causes significant and irreversible brain damage.

Research shows that at least one-third of patients experienced permanent amnesia.[5] A safety study conducted by the FDA found significant risks: cognitive and memory dysfunction, neuropathological changes or brain damage, and death.”[6]

While psychiatrists claim that ECT can be an effective treatment, others — including the United Nations — call it torture. In July 2018, the UN Human Rights Council report on “Mental health and human rights” called on governments to recognize that forced psychiatric treatment, including ECT, are “practices constituting torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment….”[7]

Due to public outcry, psychiatrists initiated a PR makeover. They changed the name from electroshock therapy to “electroconvulsive therapy” and added anesthetics and paralyzing agents to obscure their patients’ writhing convulsions and screams. It is actually more dangerous than ever. The drugs and anesthesia raise the seizure threshold, so much more electricity is needed to induce a convulsion resulting in more brain damage. A 2006 study reported that “newer methods of ECT have not resulted in an appreciable decrease in adverse effects.”[8]

Where has the FDA been in all this? They have never required clinical studies proving electroshock is either safe or effective — despite being used for more than 80 years.[9] They reduced the age limit from 18 to 13 for certain “disorders” and reasserted that they will not regulate how the devices are used by psychiatrists, opening the door for them to electroshock anyone with impunity. This appalling lack of responsibility may be explained by the fact that 45%, or $2.4 billion of the FDA’s budget is paid for by industry user fees.[10]

“We cannot stand by and watch as thousands of women, children, the elderly or any person are brutalized by electroshock,” said Van Hill. “It’s time to put an end to this barbarism.”

As the late Dr. Thomas Szasz, professor of psychiatry and co-founder of CCHR, stated: “and if some doctors harm – torture rather than treat, murder the soul rather than minister to the body – that is, in part, because society, through the state, asks them, and pays them, to do so.

“We saw it happen in Nazi Germany, and we hanged many of the doctors. We see it happen in the Soviet Union, and we denounce the doctors with righteous indignation. But when will we see that the same things are happening in the so-called free societies? When will we recognize—and publicly identify—the medical criminals among us?”

Find out more about ECT. Watch the documentary at cchr.org and read more at cchrint.org.

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights is a nonprofit mental health watchdog, responsible for helping to enact more than 180 laws protecting individuals from abusive or coercive practices. CCHR has long fought to restore basic inalienable human rights to the field of mental health, including, but not limited to, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, the risks of psychiatric treatments, the right to all available medical alternatives and the right to refuse any treatment considered harmful.

CCHR was co-founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Thomas Szasz.

राजपक्षे के अमेरिका के तमिलों के दौरे पर जाने के लिए प्रधान मंत्री मोदी को खुला पत्र।

Prime Minister Modi

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ —

Response to Gotta Rajapaksa’s Invitation for Tamil Diaspora: Tamils for Trump

Sri Lankan President Gotta Rajapaksa

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — All Tamils want a permanently protected northeast with self-rule for Tamils. The world can allow new Sri Lankan President Gotta Rajapaksa 100 days to establish a protected north-east for Tamils, but that is all. We need the U.S. to ensure that he keeps any promises he makes to Tamils.

Tamils have not forgotten what Rajapaksa did in 2009 to the Tamils. He killed 145,000 Tamils, made 80,000 Tamil widows and 50,000 orphans, permitted the rape of thousands of Tamil young men and women and the White Van abductions of thousands of Tamils, engineered the ruthless killing of the Tamils and the occupation by ruthless Sinhalese military in the north-east, allowed the Sinhalese settlement and erection of many Buddhist symbols in the north-east, and oversaw many other unbearable tragedies suffered by the Tamil people.

Tamils overwhelmingly did not vote for Gotta Rajapaksa due to a profound fear that he is a ruthless human being and soulless monster. In 2009 and beyond, Gotta fed the swordfish that devoured the Tamils’ body and he had the swordfish for his lunch. It shows that how much he hates Tamils and the extent of his evil.

During the past 70 years of Sinhalese deception and killing of the Tamils, Tamils have never wanted to live with Sinhalese in a Unitary State.

All this violence and killing committed by the Sinhalese is a traumatic event in our culture that has instilled in Tamils a thanatophobia akin to almost dying or the death of a loved one. It is not something that can be forgotten or forgiven.

There are 2 million Tamils living outside of Sri Lanka. Most of them are well-educated, wealthy, enjoying the freedom and peace of democracy in the refugee country.

These diaspora Tamils will never forget what Rajapaksa’s government has done to their parents, children, grandparents, friends and countless other Tamils. The diaspora Tamils have many connections to international communities and decision makers. They have soft power and if they wanted, they could have hard power as well.

A Bosnian-style federalism in which lethal weapons have been stripped from the Tamils and Sinhalese will permanently protect free and prosperous states for Sinhalese and Tamils that can be developed on the island.

The wisest course of action is to ask the Tamils what kind of government Tamils need by holding a UN-monitored referendum.
