TGTE Condemns China’s Strong-Arming of Hong Kong Security Law, Stands with Protestors.

TGTE Also Denounces China Flexing Its Military Muscle in the Himalayas”

— Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)

HONG KONG, HONG KONG, June 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ —

The Transnational Government of Tamil (TGTE) joins the international community in condemning China’s plan to unilaterally enact a so-called “security” law on Hong Kong. TGTE is deeply concerned that the plan, approved by the Chinese legislature on May 28, infringes on the fundamental rights of the people of Hong Kong to freedom of speech, freedom of association, and to the free flow of information.

While China claims the law is needed to prevent and punish “subversion, secession, and terrorism” against China in Hong Kong, Eelam Tamils (i.e. Tamils from the island of Sri Lanka) know all too well from their own history in Sri Lanka that so-called security laws like these are nothing more than tools for oppression.

Eelam Tamils also share the concern expressed by Australia, Britain, Canada, and the United States in their joint statement that China’s proposed security law will dramatically erode Hong Kong's autonomy, which is guaranteed by the Sino-British Declaration that China agreed to when the United Kingdom handed Hong Kong over to China in 1997. Beijing's plan to bypass seeking approval of the yet-to-be-drafted national security law for Hong Kong from the Hong Kong legislature and instead, unilaterally impose a rights-curtailing law on the people of Hong Kong is a violation of current system of governance in Hong Kong, known colloquially as “one country, two systems,” which protects Hong Kong’s autonomy.

Democratic protesters in Hong Kong, especially students, gained the world’s attention during the second iteration of the 2014 "Umbrella Movement" in 2019, which successfully killed China’s proposed extradition bill that would have dissolved the vital separation between the Hong Kong judicial system and mainland China’s judicial system. TGTE held the hands of protestors in Hong Kong then and continues to hold the hands of protestors in Hong Kong now in the spirit of solidarity and camaraderie in our respective fights for freedom.

TGTE also take this opportunity to condemn China's military square off with Indian troops along the border in the Himalayas. There is no room for military adventurism, especially while the world is suffering from Covid-19. The need of the hour is cooperation and humanitarian action.

ABOUT THE TRANSNATIONAL GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL EELAM (TGTE):

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is a democratically elected Government of over a million strong Tamils (from the island of Sri Lanka) living in several countries around the world.

TGTE was formed after the mass killing of Tamils by the Sri Lankan Government in 2009.

TGTE thrice held internationally supervised elections among Tamils around the world to elect 132 Members of Parliament. It has two chambers of Parliament: The House of Representatives and the Senate and also a Cabinet.

TGTE is leading a campaign to realize the political aspirations of Tamils through peaceful, democratic, and diplomatic means and its Constitution mandates that it should realize its political objectives only through peaceful means. It’s based on the principles of nationhood, homeland and self-determination.

TGTE seeks that the international community hold the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against the Tamil people to account. TGTE calls for an Internationaly monitored referendum to decide the political future of Tamils.

The Prime Minister of TGTE is Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, a New York based lawyer.

Drug-Induced Acts of Senseless Violence Need Investigation

Drug-Induced Acts of Senseless Violence Need Investigation

CCHR is updating its report on Psychiatric Drugs Cause Violence and Suicide in light of recent killings and study linking antidepressants to commission of violent crimes. Increase in current psychotropic drug use raises concerns about violence.

CCHR is updating its report on Psychiatric Drugs Cause Violence & Suicide in light of recent killings and study linking antidepressants to violent crimes

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR) announced it has started a research project to update its report “Psychiatric Drugs Create Violence and Suicide” in light of recent violent killings. Psychiatrists wrote 86% more prescriptions for psychotropic drugs during the March-April lockdown months compared to January and February this year.[1] This prompts concerns because drug regulatory agencies across the globe indicate that drug adverse effect reports show that a percent of people taking these drugs will experience violent and aggressive reactions.

Of nearly 410 agency warnings against psychotropic drugs, 27 warn of violence, aggression, hostility, mania, psychosis or homicidal ideation and 49 warn of self-harm or suicide/suicidal.[2]

A Swedish study just published in the peer-reviewed journal European Neuropsychopharmacology found that some people being treated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) antidepressants have a greater tendency to commit violent crime. More importantly, the study, confirms how such violent effects can continue during sudden withdrawal, continuing for up to 12 weeks after stopping antidepressants.[3]

While the authors caution that it is an “association,” rather than cause and effect, the study joins numerous others and expert reports that do suggest a causal relationship. Professor David Healy, an international expert in psychopharmacology, says that the main causal factor behind suicide and violence while taking antidepressants is increased mental and/or physical agitation. This led to about five percent of subjects taking the drugs to drop out of clinical trials, compared to only 0.5 percent of people on placebos.[4]

There can be a number of reasons for mass murder, school shootings and violence, but the introduction and increases in psychotropic drug use in the U.S. in recent decades has questioned a reliable link between the drugs and violent behavior. “Violence and other potentially criminal behavior caused by prescription drugs are medicine’s best kept secret,” Prof. Healy said.[5]

The Swedish researchers examined the records of 785,337 people aged 15 to 60 years who were prescribed an SSRI in Sweden in 2006 through 2013. These patients were followed up for an average of around seven years, which included periods when individuals took SSRIs and when they did not. Individuals in the study committed 6,306 violent crimes while taking SSRIs, and 25,897 when not taking them—on average 26% higher during the antidepressant-taking period.[6] They were quoted as saying: “This work shows that SSRI treatment appears to be associated with an increased risk for violent criminality in adults as well as adolescents,” according to the study authors.[7]

The increased risk persisted for up to 12 weeks after the estimated end of SSRI treatment and violent crime existed in young adults as well as in adults aged up to 60 years.[8] Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics Journal also published a study in October 2012 about persistent antidepressant withdrawal effects finding they could last six weeks.[9]

It’s not limited to antidepressants but also benzodiazepines and antipsychotics.

CCHR’s report documents 17 drug regulatory agency warnings about psychotropic drug addiction or withdrawal effects.[10] Withdrawal effects for benzodiazepines or anti-anxiety drugs can last weeks and sometimes months or years and include increased anxiety, perceptual distortions, depersonalization, paranoid thoughts, rage, aggression and irritability to name but a few.[11]

Finnish researchers published the findings in their 2015 study that determined benzodiazepines could increase the risk of a consumer committing a homicide by 45% and antidepressant by 31%. A study published in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology also found that “…benzodiazepines and [SSRI antidepressants] are the main pharmacological classes able to induce aggressive behavior.”[12]

Researchers took the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System data and extracted all “serious adverse event” reports for drugs. Of the 484 drugs identified, 31 drugs were disproportionately associated with violence, of which 25 were psychotropics. They accounted for 79% of all the violence cases reported. The specific cases of violence included: homicide, physical assaults, physical abuse, homicidal ideation, and cases described as violence-related symptoms.[13]
Recent killings have included a 23-year-old university student accused of inexplicably killing two men with a machete or sword and injuring another. The man had undergone years of psychiatric treatment, seeing a number of “therapists.”[14] A man who allegedly attacked the Cuban Embassy, firing at it 32 times in April, was previously evaluated at a psychiatric hospital and prescribed an antipsychotic in March 2020.[15] Although he may not have been compliant in taking it daily, antipsychotic withdrawal effects also include hostility. The drug remains in the system, potentially impacting upon mental faculties and emotional behavior.

Psychotropic drugs and other invasive treatments such as brain-intervention methods like electroshock may explain what drives a person to commit mass murder. This needs to be properly examined before pouring more funds into mental health and the lessening of any restrictions on psychiatric treatment protections and safeguards.

PMOI (MEK)announced for the first time on December 15, 2019, that the number of martyrs in the November Uprising exceeded 1,500 and published the names of 765 of those martyrs.”

— NCRI

PARIS, FRANCE, June 1, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Mullahs' Interior Minister Covers up crimes against humanity, tried desperately to minimize the number of November uprising martyrs
Admitting to Internet shutdown and the massive dimensions of the uprising, Rahmani-Fazli: They wanted to turn this to a civil war and follow Syria's roadmap

Finally, after seven months, the mullahs' Interior Minister admitted the murder of 200 people during the November uprising, claiming that 40 or 45 people or about 20 percent of them had been killed by non-standard weapons

Seven months after the November uprising, while trying to minimize the number of victims of November 2019 uprising by 10 percent of the actual figure, Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli, Rouhani's Interior Minister admitted last night that more than 200 protesters had been murdered. Yet, terrified of a backlash, he preposterously claimed that 20 percent of the victims had been killed by non-standard weapons, insinuating that the regime's opponents murdered them. Nevertheless, Rahmani unwittingly conceded that the regime murdered more than 80 percent of the victims.

In an interview with the state-run TV on May 30, 2020, Rahmani-Fazli said: "They (enemy) announced that 10,000 people were killed, 8,000 were killed, 7,000, 6,000. They even mentioned 2,000. God willing, we will announce the figures in the next few days. The fatalities are not in these ranges at all. I want to say that 20 percent of the toll, somewhere between 40 to 45 of the victims have been registered as martyrs. They were innocent and happened to be in streets and were killed by such weapons and such tactics that none of which are deployed by the State Security Force or other government agencies."

Acknowledging the Internet outage, the regime's Interior Minister underscored the massive dimensions of the November protests, "They say that Rahmani cut off the Internet during those nights. Of course, I did because they provided training and commanded the field via the Internet… The reason they are upset is that they wanted to initiate a civil war. For several months then, we, as the country's security officials, had been surveilling them … The price of gasoline provided an opportunity for this to flare up … If there was a broad dimension and social context, it would have been much bigger than this… They wanted to disrupt the country and cause insecurity, turn this to another Syria… Maintaining security is important for all of us, and is the basis of all activities."

As reported by Etemad daily on December 17, 2019, Rahmani Fazli is the same criminal who, when confronted last December by a regime parliament deputy that "Two people in my constituency were shot in their heads. Was it not possible to shoot at them, at least in their lower parts of the body, he brazenly replied, "Well, shots were also fired at their feet!"

The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced for the first time on December 15, 2019, that the number of martyrs in the November Uprising exceeded 1,500 and published the names of 765 of those martyrs. Eight days later, on December 28, Reuters quoted three Iranian Interior Ministry officials as saying, "About 1,500 people were killed during less than two weeks of unrest that started on November 15." Reuters pointed out, "The figures provided to Reuters, said two of the Iranian officials who provided them, are based on information gathered from security forces, morgues, hospitals, and coroner's offices."

Rahmani-Fazli's remarks last night that the number of the martyrs of the November uprising would be announced in the coming days are the continuation of a scandalous process of the regime's officials blaming each other which reflects their fear of the consequences of the mass murder and crimes against humanity during the November uprising.

On February 15, Hassan Rouhani, in response to a question about the number of people killed in the November riots, said that the figures were available to the country's Coroner's office, which could be announced. Subsequently, the head of the country's Coroner's office organization announced that according to the decision of the National Security Council, the government has to publish these figures. Five days later, Ali Rabeie, Rouhani's government spokesman, said on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting, "What the president said was based on the fact that coroner's office is the authority to announce the cause of death and the issuance of the burial permit …" He added: "Coroner's office has announced (the number of those killed) in a letter. Of course, we would have to wait for the official announcement of Coroner's office, which did happen, but it was not enough. Field surveys and reports from operating agencies on the causes of death and how to proceed were also taken from the police and security agencies. Rabeie added: "Accurate figures along with how to proceed will be announced soon by the relevant authorities."

The Iranian Resistance has consistently emphasized that by any measure, the November massacre was a crime against humanity and that the regime's leaders and officials must be prosecuted and held accountable by an international tribunal.

The C19 Rapid Self-Assessment highlights the human rights risks and impacts that are common to many industries.

Daimler AG plans to use the C19 Rapid Self-Assessment as guidance for recovery
Citibank Japan has translated the document for wider dissemination in Japan
Unilever has shared the tool with their suppliers
Amfori, a Brussels-based business association promoting open and sustainable trade, has sent the self-assessment to all its members
Electronics Watch, an independent monitoring organization, is adapting the tool to prepare an instrument specifically for public buyers, to help them collect information, evaluate suppliers and ensure that human rights considerations are applied throughout electronics supply chains

“The C19 Rapid Self-Assessment offers practical support for both companies aiming to explore whether they do enough to ensure human rights considerations are embedded in their business operations at the times of the COVID-19 response and recovery, and those who are only starting to take the first steps in their human rights due diligence journey as we prepare for the ‘new normal”, added Livio Sarandrea UNDP’s Crisis Prevention and Rule of Law Specialist in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the instigation of several organizations, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, the C19 Rapid Self-Assessment has been translated into seven languages—Bahasa, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish and Thai.

The tool is one of the first outputs of the recently launched B+HR Asia: Enabling Sustainable Economic Growth through the Protect, Respect and Remedy Framework, funded by the European Union and developed in collaboration with the B+HR Asia: Promoting Responsible Business Practices through Regional Partnerships project, funded by the Government of Sweden.

While the C19 Rapid Self-Assessment provides initial guidance, UNDP recommends that all companies consider further steps towards a fully-fledged human rights impact assessment, in response to COVID-19’s immediate and long-term effects on human rights in their operations and supply chains.
