TGTE

Sri Lankan Military Intimidates Former Northern Province Chief Minister Justice Wigneswaran Ahead of Polls

Sri Lankan Security Forces

This might convey the wrong message to the People and might curtail the voting process.

Continued presence of the Military in the Northern Province would be hampering a free and fair Election. Military be restricted to their barracks during the Election.”

— Justice Wigneswaran

JAFFNA, SRI LANKA, July 31, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ —

In a dramatic development, Sri Lankan Military intimidated former Norther Province Chief Minister Justice Wigneswaran ahead of Sri Lankan Parliamentary Elections on August 5th. Earlier Criminal Investigation Department (CID) interviewed him about a speech he made last year.

Justice Wigneswaran is leading a five party alliance called "Thamizh Makkal Thesiya Kootani" and is contesting in North and East of the country.

The latest incident took place on July 28th in Jaffna, when Wigneswaran was attending an election rally in a place called "Gurunagar" close to Jaffna town.

According to a letter written by Wigneswaran to Sri Lankan President Gothabaya Rajapakse and copied to the Prime Minister and to the Chair of the Election Commission stated that:

"Around 8 pm 14 soldiers attired in completely black uniforms (Black Cats?) on Motor Cycles (two each in seven motor cycles) drove into the arena of the Meeting made disturbing noise with their raised engines, perambulated around and waited until I left the meeting after a few minutes. Then when my car went out of the area of the meeting the seven motor cycles with 14 men on them rode around my car , parked for some time on the sides, cut into the path of the car and drove on single file in front until they disappeared into a side lane."

The letter further states that this might convey the wrong message to the People and might curtail the voting process.

The letter continued:

"The continued presence of the Military in the Northern Province would be hampering a free and fair Election on August 5th. May I suggest with all humility that the Military be restricted to their barracks during the Election? I fail to see the need for such concentrated presence of the Armed Forces in the North at this time."

"I hope this incident would be investigated and acted upon. May the Parliamentary Election 2020 in the Northern Province be free and fair undisturbed by the presence of the Army."

When water flows uphill: CA nonprofit helps homeless deal with COVID by importing masks from Asia and Africa

The homeless are already the most vulnerable people in society, with COVID, if they do not have protection, their health is even more imperiled”

— Robert Freeman

LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — A California nonprofit is importing COVID masks from its sewing centers in Africa and Asia. The masks help homeless people in the San Francisco Bay Area deal with the COVID crisis.

The Global Uplift Project (TGUP), based in Livermore, CA, operates sewing centers in Kenya and Nepal. Those centers have made and distributed more than 45,000 COVID masks for use by local populations.

In July, TGUP brought 500 masks from each country and distributed them through homeless agencies in San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco. The masks are paid for by local donations to TGUP. They are given free of charge to homeless people in each of the three cities.

Historically, TGUP’s altruism flows in the other direction, from the U.S., outward. The organization builds classroom, medical clinics, and other small-scale infrastructure projects in developing countries. It has built 135 such projects since its founding in 2007.

When the COVID pandemic hit, TGUP’s founder, Robert Freeman, recognized the challenge for California’s homeless. He converted the organization’s sewing centers in Kenya and Nepal from sewing sanitary kits for adolescent girls, to sewing masks, both for local use, and to send to the U.S., to help the homeless.

Freeman is acutely aware of the irony of people from the developing world sending medical aid to help people in the richest country on earth. “It’s like water flowing uphill,” he said.

Kenya ranks 160 out of 184 countries in per capita GDP, according to the CIA 2020 Factbook. Nepal ranks slightly lower, at 165 out of 184 countries. Yet, workers in those countries are helping homeless people here in the U.S.

“The homeless are already the most vulnerable people in society,” Freeman said. “With COVID, if they do not have protection, their health is even more imperiled.”

TGUP has partnered with HomeFirst Services in San Jose and Bethany United Methodist Church in San Francisco to distribute the masks to people on the street.

Andrea Urton, CEO of HomeFirst Services, emphasized the need for homeless people to have masks. “There are an estimated 10,000 homeless people in Santa Clara County,” she said. “Every one of them needs a mask, at all times.”

With materials, labor, and shipping, the masks cost approximately $1. They are made in both countries by seamstresses that earn 30% above the local minimum wage. Also, for every mask sent to the U.S., TGUP donates four masks for local distribution.

The $1 cost is a fraction of what a comparable mask would cost when made in the U.S. The low cost is one of the reasons TGUP can make them available at no cost to the homeless, here. The masks are made of cloth and are washable and reusable.

Freeman’s ambition is that as long as the pandemic persists, every homeless person in the U.S. has a mask. “They are no less in need of personal protection than is anyone else,” he said.

TGUP is a 501c3 nonprofit. It has raised funds from private foundations to cover its “back office expenses.” These include phones, literature, travel, website hosting and more. As a result, 100% of every dollar donated by an individual goes to the project they have designated.

Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices Shares “Virtual” Legislative Breakfast 2020

Honoring community leaders who have helped keep students with Autism Spectrum Disorder learning through this difficult time.

What we want to accomplish today is to mention the names of those who have truly helped us”

— Dr. Joshua Weinstein

BROOKLYN, NY, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — For over 20 years, Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices (SKHOV) has hosted its Annual Legislative Breakfast to celebrate and honor the advocacy efforts of community leaders on behalf of children with autism.

Due to the on-going situation with COVID-19, this years’ benefit breakfast was held online and featured SKHOV Founder and CEO, Dr. Joshua Weinstein, acknowledging the work made by the honorees to keep SKHOV going despite challenges children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are facing during this crisis.

“It’s a different kind of Legislative Breakfast this year, but we are living in different times,” said Dr. Weinstein. SKHOV transitioned its individualized one-on-one curriculum to an e-learning platform using Zoom when schools were forced to close in March. Throughout the past few months, SKHOV educators and therapist have continued to assist over 1,000 people with ASD throughout all five boroughs of New York City.

The school reopened in July after an executive order was signed by the New York Governor that allowed special education schools to allow in-person teaching with improved health and safety protocols, as well as strict social distancing guidelines.

“What we want to accomplish today is to mention the names of those who have truly helped us,” said Dr. Weinstein.

Among those mentioned for their vital efforts in assisting SKHOV with continuing its programs are: Council Member Diana Ayala, Department of Transportation Brooklyn Borough Commissioner Keith Bray, Dov Cohen Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz Council Member Chaim Deutsch, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, DOE Director of State Legislative Affairs Joyce Elie, State Senator Simcha Felder, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Deputy Chancellor of the DOE Gabriella Fraenkel, Ezra Friedlander, DOE Deputy Chancellor Karin Goldmark, MTA Assistant Director Andrew Inglesby, City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Council Member Brad Lander, Department of Design and Construction Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs and General Counsel David Varoli, and Council Member Kalman Yeger.

The current summer sessions ends mid August. SKHOV will then begin working on completing the expansion of its facilities with the addition of a third floor with a rooftop playground. The campaign to “Raise the Roof” will double the school’s capacity to serve students with ASD and provide a safe, year-round playground for them to grow and develop essential skills.

Cynthia Barnes Named to Crunchbase Top Sales Leaders for 2020

Founder and CEO of the National Association for Women Sales Professionals (NAWSP) ranked at #5 on national list

There is no better time to call for diversity and equality, including when it comes to women in the sales profession. My goal is to help women build strategies that will help them succeed.”

— Cynthia Barnes, NAWSP

DETROIT, MI, USA, July 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cynthia Barnes, founder and CEO of the NAWSP, has been named on the Crunchbase “Top Sales Leaders You Should Get to Know in 2020” list. Out of 54 total honorees, Barnes was ranked highly at number five for her extensive work for women in the sales community, championing them professionally and providing leadership tools to help them maximize their success.

“There is no better time to call for diversity and equality, including when it comes to women in the sales profession. My goal is to help women build strategies that will help them succeed, and to make a positive difference in society,” said Barnes. “I’m happy to see the tech industry take note of work by organizations like the NAWSP. It’s an honor to be recognized for doing the work that I believe strongly in – advocating for women.”

The Crunchbase annual list highlights individuals who have an active voice online and a top level of engagement from their community. This year, Crunchbase added key influencers that are highly impactful and come from underrepresented backgrounds. List honorees are women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who have been recognized by their peers as salespeople to watch.

Cynthia Barnes founded the National Association for Women Sales Professionals (NAWSP) in 2016 with the goal of helping women succeed in the world of sales. The rapidly growing organization provides resources to help women address the unique challenges they face in the sales workforce and maximize their earning potential while promoting the value of diversity. NAWSP also partners with companies across the nation that are actively trying to recruit and retain female sales professionals.

A champion for diversity, Barnes recently joined up with author Lily Zheng to hold a free training webinar called “Tech's Big Diversity Problem and What it Means for Women in Sales.” The webinar was sponsored by global tech company Medallia, a leader in the tech industry’s strides toward inclusivity and diversity. During the session, Zheng and Barnes discussed steps that companies can take to make good on promises for diversity, boost accountability and demand forward momentum. This is one example of the kind of work Barnes has been doing to initiate change.

"HANGING BY A THREAD": WEST VALLEY COMMUNITY SERVICES PRESS CONFERENCE TO HIGHLIGHT DIRE NEED DURING COVID-19 CRISIS

Sign displayed in a homeless encampment in Cupertino, California. It reads, “We look out for each other, Peace in Cupertino, We are Better than that, aren’t we?”

Clients stand in line, while social distancing, to receive food from West Valley Community Services’ food pantry.

Roughly 22,000 people live in poverty in the cities of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and West San Jose, the area served by WVCS.

Many people already living on the margin of poverty are being pushed over the edge. There has been a 500% increase in the need for our services, just since March.”

San Jose, Calif., July 27, 2020 — It’s one of the most affluent communities in the country, home to tech giants, wealthy suburbs, and coveted school districts.

But West Valley Community Services will hold a press conference Thursday, July 30th at 10:00 a.m. at 10104 Vista Dr. Cupertino, CA 95014 to highlight the explosion in need for food aid, housing assistance, and other support that the nonprofit has been providing since 1973.

Roughly 22,000 people live in poverty in the cities of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and West San Jose, the area served by WVCS — a number set to grow exponentially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. WVCS is the only social services organization serving this area.

“Many people already living on the margin of poverty are being pushed over the edge,” says WVCS Executive Director Josh Selo. “There has been a 500% increase in the need for our services, just since March.” Rising income inequality had already resulted in a steady increase in demand since 2017, but with the pandemic, the increase is now “beyond anything we’ve ever seen.”

To meet the demand, West Valley Community Services launched its Lift Us Up capital improvement campaign last July to, among other things, double the size of its food pantry, add office space to provide client services, and purchase a new Mobile Pantry to serve those with mobility or transportation issues. The organization hopes to quickly raise the remaining $309,000 of its $2,125,000 goal.

“There has been a lot of attention recently on the homeless encampment on Wolfe Road, but the people living there are just the most visible faces of the need in our community,” Selo explains. “So many people here are hanging by a thread, one car accident or medical bill away from economic calamity. Our organization provides a lifeline — helping them with rent, food assistance, or whatever they might need to keep their head above water until the crisis has passed.”

“I didn’t know where else to go,” says Vera, a WVCS client. “I’ve been working as a hair stylist for 29 years, but when the COVID crisis hit, the bottom fell out. Had it not been for the support I got from WVCS, I don’t know what would have happened to me and my family.”

The urgency has never been greater. With no jobs and enhanced unemployment benefits running out soon, many people, even in affluent communities like ours, are desperate for help simply to keep food on the table and a roof over their head.

A fully funded Lift Us Up program will enable West Valley Community Services to:

Expand its free on-site Shopping Pantry
Replace its aging mobile food truck with an improved Park-It Market, enabling the organization to double the number of locations (e.g., transit locations, senior homes, etc.) it can serve
Modernize and expand its current office facilities to enable social distancing and provide a dignified, confidential setting for case management as well as classes, training sessions, and client meetings.

Lehigh Hanson has generously donated $10,000 to WVCS, so they can continue their amazing work! Lehigh has been in Cupertino for many years and is honored to support their community efforts. “Lehigh is proud to support West Valley Community Services and all of its work serving those in need,” said Keith Krugh, Senior Plant Manager at Lehigh Southwest Cement Company’s Permanente Site. “While so many – including our own workforce – are facing economic challenges due to COVID-19, Lehigh remains strongly committed to the well-being and success of our community.”

Attorney Aaron Schlossberg Further Discusses the New York City Moratorium on Eviction Proceedings Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic

NEW YORK, NY, USA, July 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Attorney Aaron Schlossberg further discusses the New York City moratorium on eviction proceedings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The lives of New Yorkers have been drastically altered by the Covid-19 pandemic. The city was the heart of the pandemic in the United States for weeks, experiencing more than 30,000 deaths and almost 400,000 cases of the virus. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg recently explained that a number of changes were made to landlord and tenant negotiations as well. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg explained that the city put into place a moratorium on evictions, so landlords can't remove tenants for failing to pay rent due to this pandemic.

The city has practically been put on-hold for months now, and some who are out of work and facing characteristically high New York City rent prices, are finding it impossible to pay. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg explained that this moratorium on eviction proceedings has now been extended far through the month of August. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg added that this moratorium has also encouraged some landlords to use the security deposits they are holding in lieu of a traditional rental payment if needed.

However, Attorney Aaron Schlossberg explained that this is clearly not a long-term solution that is ideal for landlords or tenants. Landlords can go without pay for their properties, many of which still need to pay mortgages, and tenants can fall into holes of debt, making it even more difficult to recover.
"We fear that this could put tenants in some extremely difficult situations," Attorney Aaron Schlossberg said. "Skipping several months of paying rent could put them in thousands of dollars of debt when the moratorium is lifted in August."

Attorney Aaron Schlossberg explained that this coronavirus pandemic is unprecedented, and New Yorkers are doing everything possible to maintain some kind of normalcy. He noted that the situation is difficult for landlords and tenants alike, and finding a solution that works for everyone would be nearly impossible. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg added that if landlords are unable to pay their mortgages, they could face foreclosures, and we could see a major downfall in the real estate market. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg explained that the coronavirus pandemic has caused a financial disaster regarding rent and mortgages across the city.

Attorney Aaron Schlossberg is an expert on landlord-tenant conflicts, and he foresees a number of new landlord-tenant issues arising due to this pandemic. He hopes and foresees that both parties can find some sort of financial relief, so tenants can continue paying rent, landlords can continue paying mortgages, and the economy of the City of New York can stay afloat.

Michael Weinstein, Democrat, for State House

As the only Democrat running for State House District 81 who lives in the District, Michael is working to bring real solutions to help local families

This continues to be a top issue state & local leaders need to focus on. I’m a problem solver & will bring leadership to make sure Fl is doing everything it can to protect our community from COVID-19”

— Michael Weinstein

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Michael Weinstein, Democrat for State House District 81 has released his plan for what state leaders can focus on to help combat COVID-19 and support local families, businesses and residents in need.

“This continues to be a top issue state and local leaders need to focus on. I’m a problem solver and will bring leadership to make sure Florida is doing everything it can to protect our community from COVID-19,” Michael Weinstein stated.

Michael’s plan focuses on science to make informed decisions and policies that keep people safe.

Michael Weinstein’s COVID-19 Safety Plan includes:

Prioritize health and safety: Listen to public safety and health experts to ensure Florida is following CDC guidelines and putting people first. Flatten the curve and slow down the spread by ensuring our community has enough PPE, testing and medical supplies. Michael supports mask mandates to ensure the health and safety of Floridians are protected.

Fix Florida’s broken unemployment system: Fight for a better unemployment system that will handle claims quickly and efficiently, deal with any influx of claims and that isn’t rigged against the people who need assistance when it matters most.

Crisis preparedness, response, and recovery: Work with health experts and economists to use what we’ve learned from the COVID-19 pandemic so far and develop an effective road-map to economic recovery for this crisis, and any future ones.

Standing up for our seniors: Never turn our backs on our seniors and most vulnerable residents and make sure they have the care, support and services they need.

“Residents in District 81 are looking for leadership to addresses these issues. I have the experience and plan to make a difference and ensure our community has a voice,” Michael Weinstein stated.

Michael Weinstein is a life-long Democrat who has spent his entire career as an advocate for justice. Michael served our community as an Assistant State Attorney, where he was recognized as one of the county’s top prosecutors in 2001. He served 3 terms on the Florida Criminal Procedure Rules Committee drafting court rules and procedures to be used across the state and was appointed to the United States Military Academy Board Nominating Committee by Senator Nelson.

Raised by generations of Democratic leaders, Michael learned at an early age the importance of public service and having the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Michael’s grandfather Moses Weinstein served as Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and his father Peter Weinstein was the Florida Democratic Senate Majority Leader and a former Chief Judge. His mother, Dr. Barbara Weinstein, served as CEO of Family Central, a non-profit that works to support kids and families across South Florida.

House District 81 is an open seat. Michael and his wife are raising their nine-year-old daughter in the district. He is the only candidate in the Democratic Primary who lives in the District. The election is on Tuesday, August 18th.

NCRI is now advancing with all its might to overthrow the mullahs’ regime and establish democracy and people’s sovereignty”

— Maryam Rajavi

PARIS, FRANCE, July 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — NCRI holds a Three-Day plenary session via a Virtual meeting connecting 44 locations in 11 countries on the beginning of its 40th anniversary of the founding

Remarks made by 50 NCRI Committee chairs, representatives of member organizations, and distinguished member personalities. 82 observers attended the session

Maryam Rajavi: Over the past 40 years, the NCRI has been the most effective force against the ruling theocracy. It is now advancing with all its might to overthrow the mullahs’ regime and establish democracy and people’s sovereignty

The three-day online session of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which began on Thursday, July 23, connecting 44 locations in 11 countries, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, Norway, Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Albania, concluded in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 26, 2020.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, addressed the session on its final day, which coincided with the beginning of the 40th anniversary of the NCRI's founding.

Fifty NCRI members, Committee chairs, representatives in different countries and member organizations, Iran’s national sports champions and prominent artists discussed the NCRI’s activities, the Iranian regime’s crisis-riddled situation, the prospects for its overthrow, the NCRI's 40-year history, its steadfastness and political demarcations in one of the most critical eras of Iranian history.

In addition to NCRI members, some 82 observers and allies also took part in the session, with a number of them providing their remarks.

Mrs. Rajavi stressed that the NCRI has been the highest-ranking and the most effective opposition to the mullahs’ religious dictatorship; it has made the greatest sacrifices and has suffered the most while waging a relentless battle. The NCRI is now advancing with all its might toward the regime’s overthrow and the establishment of democracy and the sovereignty of a popular republic, she added.

While scanning through the NCRI’s history, Mrs. Rajavi said that the trajectory of developments over the past 40 years confirms the veracity of the NCRI’s core principles and viewpoints. The NCRI declared from the very beginning that the ruling theocracy is incapable of moderating itself or carrying out reforms or to even negotiate. It is also incompatible with peace. This regime will neither become ‘moderate,’ nor will it be able to ‘rebuild’ the country or abandon its export of terrorism and fundamentalism.

The NCRI President-elect said: Thirty years ago when virtually nobody had any information about the regime’s nuclear projects, the NCRI launched its extensive attempts to expose those projects and championed a non-nuclear Iran. At all junctures, it exposed the shameful policy of appeasing the ruling religious fascism, it spoke out against the mullahs' attempts to auction off the country by signing treacherous accords, and it defended the national interests of the Iranian people everywhere.

Mrs. Rajavi added: The NCRI has pledged not to seek power but to transfer power to the people of Iran. Based on the plans adopted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the Provisional Government established after the mullahs' overthrow must hold free elections to form the National Constituent and Legislative Assembly within a maximum period of six months. As far as the Provisional Government is concerned, its mandate of transferring power to the people will end as soon as the National Constituent and Legislative Assembly is formed.

Mrs. Rajavi referred to the NCRI’ Plan on the Provisional Government’s Relations with Religion, adopted in November 1985, and highlighted the fact that this Plan denounces all religious compulsion or forcing people to practice religion. It further rejects all forms of “discriminations as well as any political or social privileges and coercion” in relation to Islam. The Plan stipulates that “under no circumstance is any religion or denomination recognized as enjoying special privileges or rights” while at the same time respecting “the freedom of religions and faiths.”

The NCRI President-elect emphasized that the NCRI has refrained from adopting a parochial outlook or from insisting merely on its own positions, platform, or adopted plans, and instead it has repeatedly called for the formation of a National Solidarity Front to overthrow the mullahs’ religious dictatorship. The NCRI, Mrs. Rajavi added, has declared that it is prepared to cooperate with all forces who seek to establish a republic and a democratic, independent political system based on the separation of religion and state, provided that they pledge to reject the mullahs’ religious dictatorship in its entirety, with all its internal factions.

During the session, NCRI members debated developments in various spheres in Iran, especially those following the November 2019 uprising.

Members also talked about the Free Iran Global Summit on July 17-21, which linked 30,000 locations in more than 100 countries, and which saw the participation of more than 1,000 political dignitaries from around the world. In their debates, NCRI members assessed the Summit's consequences as well as its impact inside Iran and on the international stage.

When it comes to the coronavirus crisis in Iran, the Iranian Resistance has rightly declared that (the mullahs’ supreme leader, Ali) Khamenei and (the regime’s president, Hassan) Rouhani have adopted a policy of causing mass human casualties to fend off popular uprisings and the threat of being overthrown. They find the coronavirus spread as a gift and an opportunity, as well as an "ally" that acts against our people and is a savior for the regime.

Due to pandemic-related international restrictions, the three-day Free Iran Global Summit was held virtually, and in their discussions, NCRI members described it as a significant undertaking in the realm of communications amid COVID-19 protocols. The Summit reflected the Iranian Resistance’s extraordinary capability as it firmly stands against Khamenei’s strategy of taking advantage of the “opportunity” provided by the coronavirus.

The NCRI continually provided credible facts and figures about the catastrophic dimensions of the coronavirus spread in Iran, including facts contained in internal documents and communications within the regime, thereby preventing the mullahs from completely suppressing the Iranian society through the strategy of mass human casualties.

The NCRI plenary session also addressed pertinent international and regional developments, in particular the setbacks suffered by the regime in the context of its strategy of meddling in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. The session noted that the elimination of the regime's terrorist Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani dealt an irreparable blow to the mullahs' suppression and export of terrorism, which in turn has drastically demoralized the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The speakers at the session included: Mr. Mehdi Abrishamchi, NCRI Peace Committee Chair; Mr. Hamid Azimi; Dr. Masoumeh Bolurchi, NCRI Representative in Germany; Mr. Abbas Davari, Labor Committee Chair; Mr. Moslem Eskandar Filabi, Chair of the Athletics Committee and Iran’s national champion in wrestling; Mr. Nassrollah Esmaeelzadeh; Mr. Hossein Farshid; Mr. Samad Fathpour; Ayatollah Jalal Ganjei, Representative of the DAD Organization and Chair of the Religions and Denominations Committee; Ms. Nahid Hemmat Abadi; Dr. Manouchehr Hezarkhani, renowned author, intellectual and Chair of Culture and Arts Committee; Dr. Hossein Jahansouz; Parviz Khazaie, NCRI Representative in Scandinavian countries; Mr. Mansour Lavai; Ms. Simin Manafi; Dr. Abdol Ali Massoumi, author and historian; Mr. Ebrahim Mazandarani, Representative of the Towhidi Traders Guild and Chair of Committee on Guilds and Businesses; Ms. Mahin Meshkinfam; Ms. Zinat Mir Hashemi, Editor-in-Chief of Nabarde Khalq and a member of the Central Committee of the Fedayian Khalq Organization; Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Mr. Reza Olia, renowned Iranian sculptor; Mr. Aziz Paknejad; Dr. Saleh Rajavi, NCRI Representative in France and Chair of the Health Committee; Mr. Houshang Rajavi; Aziz Rezaee, mother of eight MEK martyrs; Mr. Mohsen Rezaee, NCRI’s Deputy Senior Secretary; Ms. Soheila Sadeq, Chair of the Education Committee; Ms. Floor Sadidi; Dr. Sofy Saeedi; Dr. Hossein Saeidian; Mr. Mehdi Same, Spokesman for the Iranian People’s Fedayian Khalq Organization and Industry Committee Chair; Ms. Soona Samsami, NCRI Representative in the United States; Ms. Nasrin Seifi; Kak Baba Sheikh Hosseini, the Secretary General of Khebat Organization of Iranian Kurdistan; Dr. Mohammad Ali Sheikhi, the Representative of the Association of Committed Professors and Chair of the Committee on Universities and Higher Education; Ms. Badri Pour-Tabbakh, MEK’s Deputy Secretary General; Dr. Mohammad Hossein Tasouji; Dr. Manshour Varasteh; and Dr. Sanabaragh Zadehi, Chair of the Judiciary Committee, former Air Force Col. and pilot, Behzad Moezi; and former Air Force Major and Pilot, Hossein Eskandarian.

Also speaking at the session were a number of Iran’s national sports champions, including Dr. Mohammad Ghorbani, a Gold medal winner at the World Wrestling Competition; Mr. Bahram Mavedat, and Asghar Adibi, former members of Iran’s national soccer team; and Mr. Manouchehr Arastoupour, rowing champion. Among other speakers were Mr. Mohammad Shams, conductor, and composer; Mr. Amir Aram, renowned Iranian pop singer; Dr. Hamid Reza Taherzadeh, a renowned musician; Ms. Gisou Shakeri, prominent singer; Fereydoun Jourak, a film Director.
