CCHR Calls Attention to Drugging of Millions of Children on the Heels of ADHD Awareness Month

There are over 6.7 million US children being prescribed psychiatric drugs with more than 3.3 million of these children prescribed drugs for ADHD.

Dangerous psychiatric drugs are being given to children despite the known side effects of death, homicides and suicides that have been reported.”

— Diane Stein, President CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, November 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a non-profit mental health watchdog dedicated the protection of children, is calling on the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to examine the facts behind the heavy drugging of children following a recent report on the significant increase of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) labeling. [1]

The stated mission of ADHD Awareness Month is to provide information to the public based on evidence from scientific and peer-reviewed research yet there is no definitive test to identify ADHD. Instead healthcare professionals use a series of symptoms as a guideline to decide whether or not they think someone has ADHD and the end result is usually a prescription for a psychiatric drug. [2] [3]

This growing trend to label children in the United States has resulted in over 6.7 million children being prescribed psychiatric drugs with more than 3.3 million of these children prescribed drugs for ADHD. [4]

“Parents are being told that their child has a ‘mental disorder’ but in actual fact there is no independent, valid test for ADHD nor is there any data to indicate that ADHD is due to a brain malfunction yet the number of children being labeled with a ‘brain-disorder’ continues to climb,” stated Diane Stein, President of CCHR Florida. “This is why we are calling on the FDA to investigate the heavy drugging of children in this country.”

According to the CDC, the estimated number of children ever diagnosed with ADHD, based on a national 2016 parent survey, is 6.1 million. [5]

Pediatric occupational therapist Angela Hanscom believes that the reason that children are being increasingly diagnosed with ADHD is that they are forced to stay in an upright position for hours on end and do not move nearly as much as needed. Gone are the days when children rolled down hills, climbed trees, spun in circles and recesses are abbreviated because of increasing academic demands. Ms. Hanscom tested several classrooms and discovered most children had very poor core strength and balance. In fact, she discovered that only one in twelve children were normal in this regard. [6]

However instead of prescribing more physical activity the psychiatric solution is to prescribe dangerous drugs. The two commonly prescribed drugs for ADHD, Ritalin and Adderall, carry Black box Warnings and side effects can include:

• Agitation
• Aggression
• mood swings
• depression
• thoughts of suicide
• fast/pounding/irregular heartbeat
• seizures
• slurred speech
• confusion

“Dangerous psychiatric drugs are being given to children despite the known side effects of death, homicides and suicides that have been reported,” stated Diane Stein. “Why is this being done despite the known risks? Because a psychiatrist prescribing drugs can make up to four times as much as one who doesn’t and drugs prescribed for ADHD alone make billions every year.” [7] [8]

About CCHR: Initially established by the Church of Scientology and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969, CCHR’s mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections. L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, first brought psychiatric imprisonment to wide public notice: “Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the ‘free world’ tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of ‘mental health,’” he wrote in March 1969. For more information visit www.cchrflorida.org or call 800-782-2878.

As Audiences Battle Chronic Stress, GillespieHall’s Storytelling Uplifts During Pandemic

GillespieHall’s Creative Team

Partner Bridget Paverd (L) and Senior VP Clara Mattucci

PR Firm recognized with 2020 Gold Hermes Awards for Creative Storytelling

GH creates work that is brave and bold. It tells a very relatable story that moves people to act, to think differently.”

— Dr. Lynn Morrison, CEO, BCCS

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, UNITED STATES, November 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — PR and Strategic Communication firm GillespieHall was recognized with two 2020 Hermes Creative Awards for compelling storytelling and visual identity branding during a pandemic.

“We’re delighted to receive this national recognition again. Promoting health prevention messaging is always a challenge,” says GillespieHall founding partner and PR specialist Bridget Paverd. “Add the pandemic and a toxic election into that mix and it is overwhelming – a reason for everyone to switch off. Many of our long-standing clients serve communities suffering from addiction and mental health issues – we had to create messages for audiences already feeling a sense of restlessness and helplessness. With everyone hungry for examples of success, the GH team focused on stories of hope, resilience, and inspiration. Our goal was to help reshape dispositions and inspire communities in recovery to keep going. It worked. Our clients, and their clients, were incredibly pleased with the results.”

“We kept the campaign authentic, relatable,” says GillespieHall Creative Lead, Jasha Price. “Using Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn as well as traditional media, we created micro-stories for our clients Brandywine Counseling and Community Services and Delaware Prevention Partnership. The stories were inspirational, poignant, honest, relatable and provided a call to action. We also wanted to continue to foster loyalty and trust. It was different from what we had been doing prior to the pandemic – and the response was overwhelmingly positive,” says Price. “We wanted our audiences to feel totally supported by our clients, and they did.”

Behaviorist and GillespieHall Vice President, Clara Mattucci says, “We recognized that the audiences we targeted in these campaigns were exhausted, disengaged. We segmented the stories into digestible vignettes on the digital platforms. Some of the stories were translated into Spanish, and many of them were picked up by popular bloggers and media. We know audiences reject content that isn’t authentic – we don't ever take that risk. I appreciate having our firm recognized once again for this work. Our hearts go into every message, every story.”

About GillespieHall
Since 2006, GillespieHall (GH) has been delivering six-star communication strategies across the business, science, service, arts, education, political and non-profit sectors. A much-admired leader in public relations, branding and digital marketing, founding partner Bridget Paverd is also an instructor in crisis communication at Wharton. This is GH’s 74th national award in 5 years.
About Hermes Awards
Established in 1995, Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, design and execution of traditional materials and programs, and emerging digital technologies. GillespieHall’s work was one of several thousand entries submitted to Hermes from companies and nonprofits around the globe.

This year’s #60in60 campaign logo and tagline

The organization has helped over 900 LGBTQI people escape violence and persecution in countries that criminalize same-sex intimacy

We need our community to come together and help us give a chance at freedom to as many people as possible.”

— Kimahli Powell

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, November 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today, Rainbow Railroad — an international organization that helps LGBTQI people escape violence and persecution to find a path to safety — launches its #60in60 Campaign to raise $600,000 in the last 60 days of 2020 to save 60 lives. The campaign’s tagline is “You can save an LGBTQI life.”

From now until December 31, the organization will be releasing videos and other multimedia content telling the stories of the brave individuals they’ve helped and explaining the global LGBTQI experience. Viewers can follow along the campaign on social media (@rainbowrailroad).

Stories like that of Amin, (see press kit for photos and videos) who with the help of Rainbow Railroad, fled his native Chechnya after he was kidnapped and tortured by police for two weeks. A victim of the infamous 2017 “gay purge”, Amin now lives in safety in Toronto with his partner. His story of escape, facilitated by Rainbow Railroad, was shared with viewers on 60 Minutes in 2019, raising awareness about state-sponsored persecution of LGBTQI people in Chechnya.

It costs approximately $10,000 to help an LGBTQI person find safety, which determined the fundraising goal of $600,000 this year. The campaign will invite people around the world to donate directly or set up their own fundraising page. The campaign ends on December 31, 2020.

“The stakes are high,” stated Rainbow Railroad Executive Director Kimahli Powell. “We now field nearly 3,000 requests for help a year. And at this very moment, we are triaging the cases of hundreds of LGBTQI people around the world who need support right now. We need our community to come together and help us give a chance at freedom to as many people as possible."

Funds raised will go directly towards helping 60 more people escape life-threatening persecution. The funds will also be used to provide support to individuals who cannot travel due to COVID-19 or other limitations. These include the provision of basic essentials like food and shelter, or travel to a safer location within the country.

The organization has also recently published a snapshot of its impact during COVID-19, which details how it has supported at-risk individuals. The report is included in the press kit below.

In 70 countries, LGBTQI people face criminal charges under colonial-era anti-gay laws that can result in life in prison, according to a recent report by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA). In 11 countries, they can face the death penalty. In alarming numbers, lesbians experience sexual violence, trans people cannot live as their authentic selves and gay men are targets of state sponsored campaigns to entrap and torture them.

At any given time, Rainbow Railroad is working on hundreds of open cases. Since its founding in 2006, the organization has assisted more than 900 people escape to safe countries. With this campaign, the organization hopes to double the amount of people helped by the end of 2022.

About Rainbow Railroad:

Rainbow Railroad is an international non-profit organization headquartered in Toronto and New York that helps LGBTQI people seek safe haven from state-led violence and persecution in countries where homosexuality is criminalized. The organization is a community driven response to mitigate the impacts of global persecution directed towards LGBTQI people. "DEADLY WORK OR DECENT WORK?" BOOK AUTHOUR, H.E. REV. DR. OCANSEY, PRESENTS ROADMAP FOR AFRICA TO MAKE A SHIFT FROM DEADLY TO DECENT WORK AT UN75 CELEBRATION

#UN75: HUMAN RIGHTS, GENDER ISSUES, DECENT WORK AND YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ACCORDING TO UN RESOLUTION 2250 MUST FIND ITS SECURE PLACE AT THE CENTER OF MULTILATERAL DIPLOMACY IN THIS COVID19 ERA AND BEYOND.”

— H.E. REV DR. OCANSEY

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, USA, November 1, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — At the just ended UN75 celebration in Accra, the UNYA-Ghana, #Enddeadlywork Coalition and the Nekotech Center for Labour Migration Diplomacy jointly made a seven point petition to Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo, read by the world renowned Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh and the African Union Migration Expert and international best selling authour of "Deadly Work or Decent Work?", H.E. Rev. Dr. Ocansey.

The petition singled out and prioritised an ECOWAS-Middle East Labour Migration Multilateral Dialogue inorder to make a shift from deadly to decent work for African women domestic workers. For those working in the Middle Eastern globally criticised slave-like employment system, Kafala – Covid19, coupled with the explosion in Lebanon has exacerbated the issue, making a bad situation, more deadly than ever before!

Over two thousand young women were recently rescued from Lebanon by the Government of Ghana. Thousands of African Women are currently stranded in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern kafala practicing nations from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and others – are all faced with domestic workers who are now stranded, sick and suffering in Lebanon and other countries like Oman.

The "Deadly Work or Decent Work?" book, which was presented at the UN75 event, gave a shocking revelation of this kafala system, but also pointed to other Middle Eastern decent work employment systems plus a ten key roadmap African Governments can pursue to make the shift from deadly to decent work.

Dr. Ocansey indicated that the Bilateral agreements signed with kafala practicing receiving countries do not provide adequate protection once the domestic workers enter into the homes of their employers in the Middle East. Rape, sexual harrassment and abuse, may still happen under kafala Bilateral agreements. It is best to abolish Kafala like the UAE and Qatar have done, with Saudi Arabia being next, after announcing their plans to abolish kafala.

"Covid19 has taught us that our challenges are interconnected and can be best addressed through effective multilateralism," said Dr. Ocansey.

"At the UN 75 meeting this year, Member States all agreed that multilateralism is not an option but a necessity, to build back better for a more equal, more resilient, and more sustainable world. We therefore petition H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo, as Chair of ECOWAS, to initiate this long overdue ECOWAS/AFRICA-Middle East Multilateral Labour Migration Dialogue Platform, much like the Abu Dhabi Dialogue and the Colombo Process, which are doing well to help Asians have much better outcomes with the Gulf States/Middle East Labour Migration," she concluded.

The highlights of the UN75 celebration was a UN Flag ceremony by the youth of the UNYA-Ghana and some of the returnees from Lebanon, as well as a highly spirited and emotionally charged Presidential and Diplomatic Award Ceremony. President Akufo-Addo was honoured with "Champion of Migrant Women's Decent Work Award", which was was received by Honourable Cynthia M. Morrison, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection on behalf of the President. The award was presented by H.E. Rev. Dr. A.K. Ocansey and Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh.

The other awardee was H.E. Ambassador Dr. Winfred Nii Okai Hammond, Ghana's Ambassador to Egypt, with concurrent assignment to Lebanon, Sudan and Palestine. Ambassador Hammond was awarded the "Distinguished Diplomatic Service Award" for his outstanding rescue mission which saved the lives of over two thousand women from Lebanon. The award was presented by H.E. Lillian Addo, UNYA Country Head and Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, UNYA-Ghana, founder.

Sheila, one of the domestic workers rescued from Lebanon, was among the women who were screaming uncontrollably, when Ambassador Hammond was given his award. Sheila said: "I may not be alive, if it had not been for this Ambassador," she said with tears of joy in her eyes.

"My friend Patience, worked for nearly two years without any pay. The Lebanese family sent her to prison for three months when she asked for the rest of the salary owed her which amounted to three thousand US dollars. Now she is back in Ghana penniless. After being sexually harrassed and abused, many have nothing to show for it. This is a great injustice! We are so grateful to the UNYA-GHANA, Enddeadlywork Coalition and NEKOTECH for this petition! If it works we will be able to have a good life in Ghana and we will never dream of going overseas again! For now, we will be on our knees praying!" she said smiling.

Africa has multilateral migration platforms with Europe, and the Middle East has Multilateral platforms with Asia, but Africa and the Middle East are yet to have a multilateral labour migration platform. With the excellent leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo, the ECOWAS region is uniquely positioned to lead Africa in this much needed Multilateral platform with the Middle East.

The UNYA-Ghana is a not for profit member based association of over 10,000 youth. The UNYA-Ghana was founded by Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey. H.E. Lillian Addo is the Country Head with Evangelist Safo as the head of operations.

Selah Way Foundation Partners with GSO to Train Healthcare Professionals

The Selah Way Foundation's Protection Pillar is dedicated to training the front lines to recognize and aid survivors of sex trafficking.

CHICAGO, IL, USA, November 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Selah Way Foundation Partners with GSO to Train Healthcare Professionals

The Selah Way Foundation's Protection Pillar is dedicated to training the front lines to recognize and aid survivors of sex trafficking. While their National Training Cadre trains law enforcement agencies nationwide, it is Global Strategic Operatives which focuses on training entire health care systems. They have trained 240,000 health care professionals and will be training 250,000 more in 2021 as they expand their reach internationally beginning with India and followed by Ireland, Australia, Poland, Africa, Thailand and/or Vietnam or Myanmar.

The Selah Way Foundation started providing human trafficking training and resources for medical professionals since the discovery that a majority of victims will eventually seek medical care while they are being trafficked.

“Up to 88% of victims seek medical care/treatment while being trafficked, and clinicians often misdiagnose these individuals and miss the signs due to lack of training and knowledge.” – Lederer & Whetzel, 2014

The training arm focuses on equipping the medical community with the information they need to identify the signs and symptoms of sex trafficking. It also teaches them how to assess the patient and provide safety, creating a new layer of protection for victims of the crime.

Healthcare Systems Trained to Help Human Trafficking Victims

Each training is led by survivors and expert clinicians to encourage healthcare workers to confidently take action to serve trafficking victims.

Healthcare Systems trained by Global Strategic Operatives in collaboration with The Selah Way Foundation include:
● Baptist Health
● Advocate Aurora Health
● Hackensack Meridian Health
● Baylor Harris Health
● RWJ Barnabas Health
● Northwell Health

"It has been my honor and pleasure to work on this initiative. I could not think of a better cause to support and engage my staff as we work to better identify and care for potential human trafficking victims.” – Nada Wakim, PhD, RN, NE-BCAVP of Nursing & Case Management, South Miami Hospital

About Selah Way Foundation

The Selah Way Foundation is a global training network of best practices and service providers in the domestic and international anti-sex trafficking movement.
Our mission is to eradicate this crime on a global scale through three Pillars: Prevention, Protection and Provision.
About Prevention: Our train-the-trainer model educates entire school systems on how to implement cutting edge curricula for K-12th grade so that they can recognize the signs of exploitation and speak up against abuse.
About Protection: Our expert trainers educate first responders and medical professionals on how to recognize at-risk children and exploited young adults. We train the front lines on how to take action against predators, build a legal case, as well as serve and protect victims.
About Provision: We partner with highly-vetted domestic and international organizations with successful
outcomes and measurements who are working with this population and provide training for organizations launching in this industry.

About Global Strategic Operatives

Global Strategic Operatives, founded by Deborah O'Hara Rusckowski is a training arm devoted specifically to equipping the medical community to identify the signs and symptoms of sex trafficking and teaches them how to assess and provide safety for patients. Medical professionals are literally on the front lines, so educating them is essential in eradicating sex trafficking. This training arm creates an entirely new layer of protection for victims of this crime. Through a policy and system-wide approach, we provide trainings led by survivors and expert clinicians to healthcare providers, beginning with the highest levels of the organization. Once trained, healthcare providers know how to confidently take action internally and through external partnerships to best serve survivors.

H.E. DR. HAMMOND RECEIVES "DISTINGUISHED DIPLOMATIC SERVICE AWARD" FOR RESCUING KAFALA WOMEN FROM LEBANON AT UN75 EVENT BY UNYA-NEKOTECH-ENDDEADLYWORK COALITION

The Future we want, the United Nations we need: reaffirming our collective commitment to multilateralism.”

— Political Declaration of UN Member States

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, USA, November 1, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — UN75 was celebrated in grand style in Ghana on October 29, 2020 at the Accra International Conference Center, by the United Nations Youth Association – Ghana, in partnership with the Nekotech Center for Labour Migration Diplomacy and the #enddeadlywork Coalition. The celebration included a book launch of the Amazon best seller: "Deadly Work or Decent Work?" "SOS! Africa-Middle East Domestic Workers' Migration Process", authoured by the highly acclaimed migration expert and Chairperson of UNYA-GH, H.E. Rev. Dr. A.K. Ocansey.

A Presidential and Diplomatic Awards ceremony was held to honour Ghana's President, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo and H.E. Ambassador Winfred Nii Okai Hammond, Ghana's Ambassador to Egypt with concurrent assignment to Lebanon, Sudan and Palestine. The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia M. Morrison, received the "Champion for Migrant Womens' Decent Work Award" on behalf of the President. The award was presented by H.E. Rev. Dr. A.K. Ocansey and the world renowned Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, founding President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, UK.

The other award recipient, H.E. Ambassador Hammond, was nominated by "This is Lebanon" -a Canadian based NGO- a human rights partner of the Nekotech Center, who cited Ambassador Hammond as the best Diplomat they had ever experienced in the Covid19 crisis. H.E. was presented with the "Distinguished Diplomatic Service Award", with a citation and a "Royal Rod of Moses".

The Ambassador, who had named his Lebanon rescue mission: "Let My People Go!" was in total shock when the "Royal Rod of Moses" was presented to him with a charge to go to "Egypt" to set the women free from the bondage of kafala! This released highly emotional screams from the returnees, who had been appealing to get help to bring home the remaining thousands yet to be rescued from Lebanon. This set the auditorium ablaze with drumming, dancing, uncontrollable cheers and tears of joy, especially from some forty of the two thousand, two hundred and sixty-two women rescued from Lebanon.
The award was presented by H.E. Lillian Addo – Country Head of UNYA-GH and Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey – founder of UNYA-GH.

"The UNYA-GH, with membership of over 10,000 youth, with a network of 275 MPs, 132 shadow ministers, Deputy Ministers and 15 clerks- in every constituency in Ghana, are divinely positioned to take on this task to petition the Government in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on behalf of the 2,262 youth returnees from Lebanon- some of whom participated in the colourful UN75 flag celebrations, " said H.E. Rev. Dr. A. K. Ocansey

Other highlights of the day, with MC Evangelist Patrick Safo -UNYA-GH Head of Operations, included a poem on peace, a rousing speech by the UNYA-GH Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Robert Owusu and a live presentation of the "Nekotech Ten Adinkra Keys to Decent Work" organised under the leadership of Mr. Dainton Haase, Chief Operating Officer of the Nekotech Center.

Millions of migrant women domestic workers from Africa and Asia end up in the globally criticised slave-like migrant work system, kafala. While some of these women succeed, a rapidly increasing number suffer silently behind closed doors of constant abuse. Some are raped or sexually harassed, many work long hours with little or no pay, no day off and seized passports. Now with Covid19 and the explosion,  many are stranded, suffering, sick, suicidal and some like the late Faustina Tay, have been found mysteriously dead in Lebanon.

With Asian countries pushing back on the deadly Kafala jobs, Africa has speedily become the most popular location for kafala agents. Following the UN75 celebrations and presentation of the "Deadly Work or Decent Work? book, the UNYA-GH and Nekotech Center jointly petitioned the Ghana Government through Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, to undertake these seven action points for a shift from deadly work to decent work for migrant women workers:

1. URGENTLY FACILITATE THE INITIATION OF A MULTILATERAL MIGRATION PROCESS PLATFORM BETWEEN ECOWAS AND THE MIDDLE-EAST FOR A MUTUALLY ACCEPTABLE LABOUR MIGRATION FRAMEWORK AS PROPOSED IN THE BOOK: "DEADLY WORK OR DECENT WORK?"

2. GHANA IS HUMBLY REQUESTED TO REJECT BILATERAL LABOUR AGREEMENTS FOR KAFALA JOBS.

3. RATIFY UN ILO CONVENTIONS 189 (FOR DECENT WORK FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS) AND 190 – (AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE).

4. PERSECUTE HUMAN TRAFFICKERS AND SMUGGLERS.

5. PROVIDE DECENT LOCAL WORK OR TRAINING ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO ENGAGE YOUTH IN GAINFUL NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT TO REDUCE THE PUSH FACTOR OF GOING OVERSEAS.

6. SIGN BILATERAL LABOUR AGREEMENTS WITH NON KAFALA NATIONS AND LIFT BAN ON LEGAL LABOUR MIGRATION, STRONGLY REGULATING LICENSED AGENCIES WITH A REQUIRED DECENT WORK ROADMAP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR ALL AGENCIES.

7. PETITION THE LEBANESE GOVERNMENT TO HAVE THEIR CITIZENS PAY BACK ALL SALARIES OWED TO THE GHANAIAN RETURNEES.

The UNYA-GH is a not-for-profit membership-based organization founded by Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey with Chief Patron, Archbishop Daniel Antwi Boasiako, Founder of the Power of Faith International Ministries, USA. H.E. Lillian Addo, serves as Country Head, UNYA-GH.

The multiple award winning Nekotech Center is a nonprofit NGO founded in 1998 by the late US Mega star, Mr. Isaac Hayes and the international best selling author, Engineer and Minister of God, H.E. Rev. Dr. Ocansey. With assistance from US celebrity, Mr. Denzel Washington, the center's building was opened in July 2000 with H.E. Kofi Annan, then UN Secretary General, as Guest of Honor. Dr. Ocansey is also a member of the African Union Labour Migration Advisory Committee representing the Diaspora African Forum. The center is respected for its Migration Consultancy services and trainings for African Governments.

The #enddeadlywork Coalition is made up of over 25,000 high level God fearing human rights activists globally, headed by USA renowned activist Mr. Joel Segal. #Enddeadlywork works in partnership with several media houses and other stakeholders in Africa and the world to be a voice for the voiceless and vulnerable of Africa.

TEN ADINKRA KEYS TO MAKING THE SHIFT: DEADLY WORK TO DECENT WORK

“Latinos Have Power and Most of Us Don’t Know It.” A painting created in 1996 provoking Latinos to unite and vote.

©1996 Latinos Have Power and Most of Us Don’t Know It. Acrylic on Canvas. 48” x 36”. A Verdadism painting by Soraida Martinez provoking Latinos to vote.

Verdadism painting by Soraida Martinez provoking Latinos to vote.

A historically-significant painting created in 1996 by artist, Soraida Martinez, to provoke the Latino community to unite and make change.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, USA, November 1, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Since 1992: Teaching tolerance, empathy and promoting social justice. An award-winning artist, Soraida has been recognized as one of the 15 most prominent Hispanic-Americans shaping the U.S. cultural scene.

According to Soraida, “2020 is the time for Latinos to make social change by voting.” Artist, Soraida has been teaching tolerance and a deeper understanding of the human soul through her Verdadism paintings with written social commentaries. Racism, sexism, stereotyping, and the many social issues that Soraida has been painting and writing about for almost 28 years are once again polarizing American society. Through the art of Verdadism, the artist documents her own life experiences and her personal views on the universal human condition for the purpose of promoting peace, hope and social justice. The art of Verdadism is a form of hard-edge abstraction where every painting is juxtaposed with an accompanying written social commentary based on the artist’s own life experiences. Soraida has created many paintings about the struggles of Latinos in America:

©1996 Latinos Have Power and Most of Us Don’t Know It: “Latinos need to organize and vote in numbers. Many Latinos feel powerless because they have not been able to unite. We need our men and women to work together for positive change. Our greatest concern should be in making sure that our children are educated.”

©1996 The Weeping Puerto Rican Cuatro Player: “We all know that Puerto Rico has an uncertain future. The Weeping Puerto Rican Cuatro Player is weeping because of the uncertainty of the future of the island of Puerto Rico.”

©1997 The Battle of The Rice and Beans: “I am appalled at the times that I hear Latinos speaking about other Latinos and saying that certain Latinos are not as good as other Latinos. Many Latinos buy into the media hype that there are some Latino groups who come from a different country that are better-educated and better role models for America. This to me is another way of bringing bigotry to a segment of the population that is already discriminated against and has enough problems to deal with. Because we speak Spanish and we have a similar culture, Latinos share a very common experience in the United States. We should not divide ourselves with the same stupidity and prejudice that many of us face.”
