Human rights attorney claims Zelensky doesn’t want peace
Kovalik alleged that Kiev may be planning a provocation in the Kharkov Region to sabotage the upcoming Friday summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska. The Russian Defense Ministry issued a similar warning earlier this week. Zelensky has not been invited to the talks, which will focus on possible solutions to the Ukraine conflict and other bilateral matters.
The lawyer argued that Moscow’s warning could help the international community recognize a false-flag attack should one occur, stressing that “Kiev clearly does not want peace.” He added that Zelensky has overstayed his constitutional mandate by over a year, avoided holding elections, and is losing public support. In Kovalik’s view, the war allows Zelensky to remain in office and benefit from Western aid.
On Tuesday, Zelensky described Putin’s meeting with Trump on American soil as a “personal victory” for the Russian leader. Trump has called the Alaska summit a “feel-out meeting” to assess the potential for a settlement, while Moscow hopes the discussions will boost efforts to normalize US-Russia relations.
